Hopefully ableton will just implement the useful features from it, but currently there is nothing getting me excited.
Agreed with every word you've said there.

I genuinely can't think of a reason what I would not what to use live anymore. Ok it crashes from time to time (live 8 did not crash that often!!) but generally it works well and I can make music with it. Good luck to bitwig though I'll definitely keep an eye out on its progress in the future. They should sell it a bit cheaper to get it out there more.

Yeah mate, but it's audio engine is waaaaay better than Ableton's. Just sounds better.Lost to the Void wrote:It has a few interesting features, none that make me want to jump over, especially not the look of it. Interesting. Do you prefer the sound of Logic vs Live?Mono-xID wrote:Yeah mate, but it's audio engine is waaaaay better than Ableton's. He's taking the piss, it's another one of those long running debates on here.
Re: Bitwig Release Date _ 26th March 2014 _ E299 (?)
I think the killer feature is the modular environment, but that's not here yet. When they announced this Live 8 was the current version and Bitwig looked on paper to be a massive improvement. Live 9 seems to have stolen a bit of their initial thunder and I expect we'll see some of the interesting Bitwig features creeping into the newer releases of live. It's the circle of life Simba.Lost to the Void wrote:It has a few interesting features, none that make me want to jump over, especially not the look of it. Ableton sounds so shitty around 60Hz. Tru fax.Mono-xID wrote:Yeah mate, but it's audio engine is waaaaay better than Ableton's. Just sounds better.

Oh I see...he just breaking balls.
You used to use Logic tho didn't you Ashley? Any preference in sound quality of one vs the other. I think Logic sounds better. Not to start any type of debate. Just what my ears tell me.
Edit: I will say that Bitwig look at bit like a dog has thrown up on my monitor looking at the splash screen on the homepage. Don't think I can be bothered to switch at this point. I still haven't even moved to Live 9 yet. I should do it soon before they increase the price on me again. Was 250 now its 299. Bastards!

Re: Bitwig Release Date _ 26th March 2014 _ E299 (?)
Yeah having messed around the demo there's definitely not enough there to make me switch. There's some cool ideas in there, but I can do everything I need to in live. The only thing lacking with live for me at the moment is the cpu efficiency with plugins compared to something like reaper which is much better at handling vst's cpu wise. However rather it be the daws fault I just need to get a new laptop/desktop and then live will be able to cope with larger projects better as my lappys starting to show it's age.
I think a few versions down the line this could be a really good daw but it's nothing ground breaking at the moment and nothing you can't do with another daw.
If I was going to move daw I'd move to a linear one as I get a lot more finished working in a linear fashion.

Yeah, I heard it is a least 438hz better, and has greater depth in terms of nautical miles aft to stern.Mono-xID wrote:Yeah mate, but it's audio engine is waaaaay better than Ableton's. Subsekt is officially anti-Bitwig.
I'll just stand here in the corner by myself playing with my colorful dogshit new software...
TBH it's not perfect just yet, but I like the general direction of the DAW and I'm excited too see what the devs do in future updates.

None that I can tell. I've never done an A/B, but then I'm not really interested. I've happily moved over to Live it's much preferable to using Logic in terms of workflow etc...

I'll try the demo sometimes this weekend. But my guess is that it will reach its full potential after a while. It needs to be out in the wild and improved and so on and so forth. That said the gui looks as ugly as a meth mouth.

What a comparison !!! Yeah, don't like the GUI as well.LaurentOrchard wrote:That said the gui looks as ugly as a meth mouth.

Installed the demo but not really dived into it yet.
Let's see where this goes. There was alot of hype around
reaper as well.

one good thing I discovered about Bitwig is that it's going to be released on all platforms, Linux included. this is kinda exceptional, isn'it?

Apparently it was coded in Java, which is how it runs on all three platforms. I'm not exactly sure which parts were done in Java, but I'm definitely impressed with it's performance considering how I always thought Java wasn't as fast as C.gabe DM wrote:one good thing I discovered about Bitwig is that it's going to be released on all platforms, Linux included. this is kinda exceptional, isn'it?

If Java had balls I would smack them with a double width crowbar.
Fuck Java.
Fuck Java.
