Edit: It's a freebie from Driven Machine Drums, not an illegal rip!

Just buy the Drumazon plug-in from D16 group. It's a 909 emulation which sounds really good and you'll never need any 909 samples anymore.
Re: I need some 909 samples
Or you can buy just the Arturia Spark software (without the controller).
Either way, get Drumazon or Spark, forget limiting yourself to just samples.

Re: I need some 909 samples
I think the Roland kits in live are very good, especially in live 9, now that they've added the glue to each channel in the drum racks macro.

I agree with John about the live Roland kits. Goldbaby is worth a look.

Re: I need some 909 samples
No not too hard,it's almost like the real thing. The manual is good written aswell. I love this drum machine. Techno in its purest form!!!!
Re: I need some 909 samples
Yeah, there's a few Goldbaby sample sets included with Geist and they sound great.crazeehorse wrote:All of this guy's samples are pure gravy, I was lucky enough to have a friend pay for a few of the packs and throw them my way. the tape 808 / 909 have been recorded to punch straight through a mix without too much extra processing unlike most of the samples you will find for these machines. Theres a load of samples recorded through different processes to choose from.Mslwte wrote:Goldbaby is worth a look.

+ for Drumazon. Excellent plugin for the price they're asking.
I still like the Audiorealism ADM plugin too, but it's not as good value for money as Drumazon (imo).
I've got a mountain of samples taken from our old 909 on a hard disk on one of the systems here somewhere. I'll dig them out and upload them at some point. There was a lot of care taken to sample the machine at logical steps, so it's a really extensive collection of samples, but IIRC only some of the recordings were ever edited down to individual samples, so there's probably a lot of sample editing still required to turn it into the killer sample collection it could be.

Hey Zappa
We're talking about doing a subsekt sample pack made up with contributions from everyone.. how you feel for including them?

I'm not sure if I have time to get too heavily involved, but I'd gladly contribute a heap of self-recorded samples for you to put in Subsekt sample packs if you wish to. I'll need to dig out our vintage drum machine samples because I've been meaning to do that anyway. There's recording collections from the 909, 808, 606 and some other less common machines too, but many of them are still in unedited raw recording format and need a lot of sample editing work done (ie they need chopped up into individual samples, accurately top & tailed and named/saved in a logical format).
In the meantime, I recently recorded 35 drum kits from a Waldorf Rack Attack, properly edited the samples and made them into multisample kits for the Ableton Sampler. The individual samples aren't named and the kit volume levels etc need tweeked to personal taste, but the kits are definitely useable with a lot of really nice sounds, so I could give you those for a Subsekt sample pack if you like.
Re: I need some 909 samples
Exactly.I mean, whats the point of using samples when you can have the original thing as software. You can further process the sounds the way YOU want.Zappa wrote:+ for Drumazon. Excellent plugin for the price they're asking.

Re: I need some 909 samples
I've been more than happy with Goldbaby's Tape 909/808 for many many years now. I'd still love to kick the bods at Roland until they agreed to do a 909 reissue kinda like the Korg MS20 mini.
Thank you for the laughs, debate, new music found, production tips etc etc over the years. I wish Subsekt and everyone all the best for the future. Wiu.

Re: I need some 909 samples
Another vote for the Goldbaby Tape 909/808 sample packs here, plenty of bang for buck. The kits that come bundled with live are also excellent.
I have this site bookmarked from a post I read on the Gearslutz forum ages ago but I have no need to download any of the kits. There is nearly every type of drumkit you need, apparently it's legit
