Effects...plug ins, Black Friday chaos

Post by Master G »

Hi All.
Happy to be back to some music production after my daughter came to this beautiful world two years ago..)
Went through some recovery/training materials and found that my Ableton is missing some decent plug ins, mostly Saturators/Distortions..., may be some filters...low end enhancers... I am good with onboard staff + some M4L effects, but still...
Enjoyed reading topic on Saturation/Distortion 2021 and definitely gonna try those free examples. But as for now, being in the middle of Black Friday week, would like to know what our community may advise to spent some money for..)
I am a bit attracted by Moogfoogers effects and Kush REDDI, anyone tried those, any thoughts on them or any other usable techno utilities?
Stay safe and enjoy World Cup!
Força España 8-)

Peace to all  Love to all  Music to all :!:

I bought Wavesfactory Spectre because it's 50% off and I like it a lot. Comes highly recommended by others on the forum as well. I got it because I like how flexible it is (being multiband and having per-band modes and other controls) and it can do very subtle to fairly destructive. Also the UI looks nice.

I was disappointed by the Kush REDDI, very very limited in what it does (maybe only suited to actual electric bass, or I'm just stupid) I'd skip it. However the N Transformer is very very nice. I'm thinking of getting the Klevgrand Knoor for such bass duties, its on sale now.

Try Softube Wasted Space and Dirty Tape, both on sale, both dirty up things in a fantastic way. I can also recommend the D16 Decimator 2. Generally I'm really loving all the Baby Audio effects, i got the bundle some time back, they are also on sale right now. Soundtoys is generally a must have, you can buy one of their plugins now on offer for 29€ they offer upgrade paths later much much cheaper, that's what I did.

Saturation wise I use many different plugins, pushed too hard most sound like shit so I use little bits everywhere on pretty much everything. Sonimus Britson on all channels, U-He Satin, Brainworx Saturator 2, Blackbox HG2 on the master. Kush Omega N and A, Softube Saturation Knob (free), Klavgrand FreeAmp (free), D16 Frontier (free), Soundtoys Effectrack, Mathieu Demange RX950, Babyaudio Super VHS, Audio Damage Ratshack as needed.

Soundtoys have a sale on at the moment and would highly recommend getting Decapitator for $49 or Effect Rack if you can stretch to it.

Thanks for your advices!

So at the end I doubled expected budget...) could not resist, did not buy anything for my DAW before... I have Arturia V3, that I was lucky to win in the draw during my Music Production Course + some other free/promo Plug Ins ... included Trash 2 (that I like so much)
So here is the final list:
Phoscyon 2, Black Box HG-2MS, Puremagnetik Granular Suite, Axon 2, Standard Clip + SIR3, Spectre, Soundtoys, M4L Arcade Series Ult + Multi Analyser XL.
I think it is more than enough to enjoy and improve on making music.

I am still thinking about Tekturon - tried it and was very impressed... I thought Echoboy would do all the delay job after I get it (and for sure it will, just need some time to study it), but there is something different in Tekturon that I do like.

I also liked AD Kombinat Tri results and wanted to get Tactical Nuke and Knorr, but decided first to get the most from Decapitator, Black Box & Spektre...

Separate ¨gracias¨ for Puremagnetik!! I did not know about them and was impressed by all their staff), reminded me of Rymdigare I got on my phone. And few days before starting this topic was curious to find smth like it but for PC... I will definitely join them on Patreon to discover Lore and stay in touch on other projects)

Good luck 8-)
