I got married
So, we eloped last week, to cornwall.
And we got married, in a cave with bats, next to an underground lake, by a witch. As you do.
I never expected to get married, so I figured if we were to do it, it shouldn't be normal.
Very few people know, not even told family yet.
Here`s some photo`s of Mr and Mrs Voidloss.
It was a fucking weird day in so many ways, a lot of really odd shit happened. Which is kinda normal for me.
But yeah, 25 years together, we figured we earned it.

That is an awesome way to get married - congratulations to you both!
Re: I got married
Did you have a wedding cake? And was it made out of corpse flesh? And did you part it with a chainsaw?
Aside from that well done. You two make the hansome if rather dark couple.

Re: I got married
Thanks peeps.
I've never been into the idea of marriage. But after 25 years it felt more like crowning our relationship, and ended up being very emosh.
The missus did say that "you're so underground that you got married in a cave".
But that wasn't the intent, we just wanted something Gothic and memorable and discovered the caves in cornwall, once we found out it had bats and a lake we were sold, so rented a converted barn to stay in and did it.
The photos outside are a set of stone circles on Bodmin Moore called The Hurlers.
It was pretty metal, but we actually got married to the music of Bjork, Sigur Ros and Depeche Mode.
We didn't even know the celebrant was a Witch until we met her. It was a very wyrd day.
Also fuck driving on the tiny single lane, hedge lined, unlit, pitch black, cornish roads at night in fucking torrential rain. That was a nightmare I don't want to do again. I was worried we were going to be a "Newlyweds die in tragic Road accident in Cornwall" headline in local news.
Just had afternoon tea with the missus family to break the news.
Going to see my mum tomorrow to do the same.

Re: I got married
That's a crazy looking spot to get married, very cool.
Think you mentioned the kilt before but I forget the story behind it...
Congrats to ye!
With my woman 10 years now or so and we have a little girl in tow. She has told me she's not doing marriage which I'm ok with (but I don't really believe her!) I'm happy, we have our little one, that's marriage in my book ..
Edit: I didn't mean having a kid = marriage, as I know your take on kids, it's just the way I view our relationship given how it has developed ..

There's no story to the kilt. I just discovered utility kilts and I like them. Been wearing a kilt a lot this summer.subvers^v wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 2:27 pmThat's a crazy looking spot to get married, very cool.

Yeah our marriage wasn't really in the spirit of most. We've already made our pledges to each other years ago, it was more like "what do we do to celebrate 25 years together?“
Initially we were going to do a pagan handfasting but it was just too difficult to organise. So we had a cornish pagan/humanist ceremony with official legal celebrant and did a Knot tying ceremony after the ring exchange.
No family etc just us, the officials and 2 witnesses (photographer and cave owner).
It probably could be more compared to a renewal of vows, in terms of what it meant to us.
There are tax benefits too
10 Years is solid man. Congrats.

The cave owner?! That'll be you next!

Re: I got married
Here's the thing. The top part of the cave, the upper cave, is used as a music venue(the 5th photo of us, is us on the stage in that room, as it has cool lighting our photographer wanted to do some photos there) . And by sheer coincidence I sorta knew one the of the owners (a married couple) from my days in soundsystems when I worked for Black Box sound and light in Romford. The guy used to do live sound engineering and tour/venue logistics for Underworld, who are based in Romford, and we supllied the live rigs for them when they played London, so when we met we were both "you seem familiar".
We are staying in touch as the guy bought it because he likes doing music shit, and his missus is into witchcraft and crystals and likes the mystical aspect of a cave where Quarz and some other crystals were mined....and I still have loads of contacts in the sound and light trade, so I'm gonna help them out with getting good prices on kit.
But also....... Gonna do a party or two there next year.
400 capacity, with bar, no sound restrictions, no license restrictions. In the middle of a forest with amazing gardens outside the cave.
So planning on doing some really cool underground special events.... Underground.

Where everyone can go bat-shit crazy! Boom boom.
Sounds ideal though, very unique experience.
Funny how yer paths crossed before now, or crossed again, I should say ..
