Re: Favorite album ever
That's an absolute banger of an album, total paranoid mindfuck and absolutely drilling, it's one of my favourites as well. Listened to it most recently just a few weeks ago. The stage shows they were doing when touring that were demented. Good shout that, respect.
As for mine, honestly I don't know, but if I was to limit it to techno related stuff then maybe Interstellar Fugitives, or Octave One - Off the Grid, listened to that right the way through loads of times. Luke Slater would have multiple ones in the running too.

Ghostface Killah - Fishscale
No filler, listened to it a lot. His rapping is second to none.
There's also a story woven through the album. Not just a collection of songs.

Re: Favorite album ever
In No Particular order but they are always the ones that get the most plays:
Earthling - Radar (the best trip hop album by far, the lyrical invention alone is mind-blowing)
John Frusciante - The Empyrean
Portishead - Portishead
Portishead - Third
John Frusciante - Shadows collide with people
Ray Lamontagne - Trouble
Deftones - Adrenaline
Tool - 10'000 days
Deftones - Around the Fur
Incubus - The fungus among us
Incubus - S.C.I.E.N.C.E
Primus - Sailing the seas of cheese
Mariachi El Bronx - Mariachi El Bronx (I)
Ataxia - Automatic writing
Ray Lamontagne - God willing and the creek don't rise
Buckethead - Colma
Captain Beefheart and his magic band - Trout mask replica
I second Joey Beltram's 'Places' as the greatest techno album as he didn't go all arty and just stuck to what he was good at.

Think I saw them live at Atomic Jam circa '97-98. I seem to remember them having a fake electric chair on stage with them?MonoTeksist wrote: ↑Mon Jan 13, 2020 8:39 pmMine is "The Art Lukm Suite" by Holy Ghost.

Yes. Love Substance also.
One of my favourite bands. Just love how the recordings sound. Know every note of all the songs.. the nuances of how the instruments are played.
Genuinely had to stop listening to them as they were making me feel sad. Spent a lot of time in my late 20s commuting to work on the train, listening to JD. Everyday for months. Was too much
Possibly one of the main reasons why I decided to change my work / life balance. So much time to think & plan when you are packed like a sardine. Roasting & sweating in the summer.. Roasting & sweating in the winter, but trying not to catch the vomiting bug.

I was there. As I recall it... hazily, lol, it was a medical/gurney type chair, in which Art Lukm was variously restrained in a straightjacket and stuff, and there were nurses jabbing him with big ol' needles and otherwise 'treating' him, and I think there were agents after him as well, and general warpedness. Totally mental show.Pelecaras wrote: ↑Tue Jan 14, 2020 5:22 pmThink I saw them live at Atomic Jam circa '97-98. Shit yeah, those agents (dressed in black suits if I recall) made me paranoid as fuck as I was sure one had pointed at me. LOL!!! Re: Favorite album ever
Would've been awesome to have experienced Holy Ghost live once! Sounds right up my alley the craziness of it all.
Joey Beltram indeed also did a great one.
FSOL's Lifeforms is amazing as well.
I'm surprised there seem to be so little techno albums on a techno forum!
I haven't even heard of most of the artists some of you mentioned.
Another mention: Aphex Twin's I Care Because You Do is also pretty special.

If I had to pick one it would be Speedy J's "A Shocking Hobby".
It also features one of my favourite tracks ever: Balk Acid. It's still the fucking shit after all these years.
