it must be twitching to see the light
we speak of art with flaming passion
then do work void of compassion
and wonder why reality is bleeding fiction

Sounds great. I’d like to sign up to the pool of people with no experience that can put in the hours if needed. I also do graphic design: brand identities and web design if that was of any use within this project. I think it would be also great to keep the proccess of setting up and running the label possibly transparent so newbies like me can see how it all works. Just a suggestion.
Re: Subsekt: The Label -- The Discussion
Re: transparency. We could possibly set up a sub-forum for the label and ensure it's visibly to members who meet a minimum criteria, 100 posts or something.

I think it should be as transparent as possible.
Is there a way of also setting up a group paypal account? The money should be transparent too, to an extent, there should be key members with access to it (not that there will be much) just so everything is above board and no one can make accusations of naughtyness.

Not sure if Paypal will cover all the needs, because a (digital) distributor will probably pay the invoices to a regular bank account (which by itself isn't transparent). Maybe the transparency doesn't need to go that far for practical reasons, perhaps exporting and sharing of all monthly statements (from the distributor and bandcamp) on something like a secured dropbox is sufficient, so people can calculate themselves how much money there should be (be it on Paypal or the actual bank account).Lost to the Void wrote: ↑Thu Sep 06, 2018 6:31 pmI think it should be as transparent as possible.

Damn, its about time this happen people, im up to help as a graphic designer idk if theres something more i can help, but im here
And yeah im still here lurking hahahaha
My thoughts:
4 releases year is cool enough i guess
Digital/bandcamp pay what you want
no remixes is a great rule
t-shirts, posters and etc
and with we have people doing good graphic stuff we can do a cool zine to go with some physical release, cassete or usb

Re: Subsekt: The Label -- The Discussion
I think bare minimum 6 releases per year.
You can`t generate any momentum for a new label with 4 releases per year.
It`s not going to be conveyor belt techno fodder so the variety should keep the schedule interesting.

Re: Subsekt: The Label -- The Discussion
I really like the idea since I'm currently planning to launch a label as well. So, would definitely be interested in joining in and helping out in the promotional side of things mainly.
I also think the experience will be great.
My thoughts on this are :
6 releases a year sounds like a good number to me ( release every 2 months).
Pay what you want for tracks.
Since a lot of costs will be saved on mastering, if the label generates enough money maybe invite some artist we all respect to do a vinyl on it.
A distinct/reccurent visual identity that can be felt trough artwork.

Re: Subsekt: The Label -- The Discussion
I think the premise is and should be that if we were to to any vinyl in the future that it is for forum members / regulars / lesser known names, otherwise we are just selling out.

Re: Subsekt: The Label -- The Discussion
Yes. Buying in big names is a lame move.
This is about representing Subsekt.
Re: Subsekt: The Label -- The Discussion
Well, i was waiting for this for a long time, also i will give my best to help you out guys
Re: Subsekt: The Label -- The Discussion
I fail to see why it would be perceived as selling out or lame. I noticed a few labels out there doing it, split vinyls ep where you get one "biggish name" (established artists that never sold out) track along with unknown producers, I believe it can be beneficial to the unknown guys and can help represent subsekt in a good way.
Or maybe you are suggesting there is no promo on the label, and keep it obscure, but thats not the impression I got when reading the replies.

Re: Subsekt: The Label -- The Discussion
Isn't the point to release music produced by people on this forum?
