Prophän & Waal - Qôbol

Post by Prophän »

I did this collab with a fellow moroccan producer, which consisted of two tracks, each one would bear one of us's influences, and so this one is the "prophän track" so to speak. we made it primarly for fun and decided to put it on free download.

It's a well produced track to my ears. Maybe the kick needs a little more top end? Perhaps not, maybe it's just a little loud. Or it sounds a bit alien from the arp style bass. But I think my ears are tired.

I like the odd structure/ arrangement

One thing though , (the 5 step?) pattern was pretty much perfected by Raiz. But that's a preference thing. Good stuff.

Okay seems like it's an american techno duo, didn't get a chance to listen to it yet since i'm in school now, but I guess you were pointing out how my 5 steps pattern sounded similar , right ?

Good track, the only thing I didn't really like was that over the top vocal..

Some cool little fx floating around in here, kick feels a little unstable though. Not sure whether you just need to resample it, as it seems to modulate slightly, or just sidechain it to the bass a little more. Or just cutting out some of the wooliness could do the trick, not sure tbh. The arp sounds like it could be shifted in time or perhaps quantised just a little to get it sounding a smidge tighter, could also be related to the attack settings though. The closed hats could do with a little cut somewhere in the mids to make them slot into the mix a bit better, and maybe give to some velocity modulation and swing to make it sound a little less mechanical.

All in all it's a cool track, liking the atmosphere you've created here.

Structure is solid mane. Dark spacey shit i love. I would work a bit more on the rolling bassline and kick though. Just a bit more mids in the bass, and the kick has a bit too much high end? Would either EQ it out or change the kick. Im just nit picking here but good track overall.

nice track, would be nice with less high end in the kick (like squill said) and perhaps a bit of saturation on the low end?
