New album is out! It's an imagined soundtrack to a 1983 post-apocalyptic film set in 2016, a road trip across an abandoned landscape. It also has a lot more techno in it than my previous synthwave releases, so I'm definitely curious to hear what you guys think!

Not really my thing, but more interesting than Mr Child's release (and cheaper gear I would assume)

Album is on sale - pay what you like for digital. Still a few vinyl copies left as well, in case anyone is interested.
This is my most techno-influenced record...not techno per se but incorporates a lot of ideas from techno into a retro synth music context.

"Machines Never Die" is my favourite so far. I have a soft spot for synthwave.

Glad you are enjoying it! This album is my attempt to approach synthwave using a techno logic, so to speak.

Love the music but the production and the mastering is so uneven, in terms of levels, balance and tonality. Obviously you did it all yourself, which is always commendable, but it does suffer for it. A couple of tracks the top end nearly sliced my head off.

Apologies, that was a bit too brief and blunt.
Let me extrapolate.
I got bored of synthwave very quickly, there's so much samey stuff coming out.
What you have done transcends synthwave and is more.... well just good synth music. Some of it gives me an M83 vibe. Lush and fizzy with some darkness and euphoria.
It's already great music, I think it would be better with more consistent mixing across the album and some better mastering to tie it all together.
It feels like it should be a lot more lush and dripping with warmth and harmonics where in places it's quite sharp and overly digital.
I don't think that's the fault of the instrumentation, it's just the mixing.
So, I don't mean to piss on your chips. Congrats on the release, beautiful music with a tougher mix beats beautifully mixed music with no soul any day of the week, and this is in places quite beautiful.
