It`s a stand alone kick generator (though you can do other percussion)
It does 909, 808 and inbetween, midi pitchable, very very solid, can go HARD if you want it to
40 dollars

not to worry, there are plenty of nice kick generators
Try drumatic 2 or 3 they are free
For paid I recommend http://www.synapse-audio.com/ekspro.html

Perfect cheers. Dont wanna derail the thread into kickdrum vst's so ignore me.

Massive is pretty advanced to use as a kickd rum synth.
The EKS Pro Steve recommends is a killer.
Re: Creating heavy heavy heavy techno sub bass lines!
used 909 and made this by saturating the reverb.
My ears are kinda fucked since been listening to boom boom boom boom boom boom... so ive no idea if these fucking suck.

This is as nasty as i can chainverb some bass into existence. It's not perfect but i mean hey, if the guys on Modern Love records or Avian can get away with it, so do i.
Ha nice, was hoping for a ride cymbal after "the drop".

Hey guys, I didn't want to clutter this forum with a new topic, so I'll post here. it's still a subbish rummbly bass though. How does one go about getting basses like this? It sounds like a low pass tom or kick, but i cant seem to ever get them.

Yep, its all been covered. Although I think that second walter track seems to have an upbeat bassnote on it as well.

So i posted the original topic then went out of town. Was pleasantly surprised to check back see the lengthy discussion. Was originally concerned by the "we already covered it" posts. So I just wanted to stop back and say thanks for everybody's input. I know it's been beat to death, but it's always good to hear even if it's just a refresher.
So that said, i had a little time the other day to throw something together and try some of the tips that were posted. So the whole reverb thing works, almost to a fault! (thx lost in the void!) Now my kick is too big and no room for a bass line. Wanted to add a bass line or something to pick up the tempo of the track and fill in the upper bass range. Any ideas about how to layer in some other bass with a huge kick like this? I'm assuming try to find something an high pass it around 150hz and sidechain it to the kick? ...or you think i would be better served by scaling the kick back a little bit? I feel like it could still use a little tightening.
thx again for all your input peeps

Could you make a similar rumbly bass sound with a monophonic synth?
I was thinking a sine or square wave with short attack, medium decay and just use a really low note? maybe filter modulation too?

Hey Macca...not really. That's pretty much the point of the thread. A simple sine wave doesn't contain enough harmonics to have that big boomy feel. Now don't get me wrong, you can achieve a nice solid sub using a simple mono-synth, but you won't really get that big boomy sound like the sample tracks (assuming that's what you're looking for).

Here is another example i'v made using the technique described in this thread. The only difference is that i went hard on distortion at all steps.
I think that the idea is that you don't put a bassline on top. The whole thing act as a bassline. Or maybe i'm mistaken here. I dont presume to know that much. hehehe

so here is my little demo based around what I said on the first page of this post.
Pics are here to illustrate what I did, don`t judge too harshly, this was thrown together in half an hour.
Any questions, ask away
I`ve used all ableton plugs, the samples used come with ableton as well. the kick synth is a free vsti, the sonimus satson stuff has been just used to control gain levels and the meter on the master is the only real third party doing anything.
Bigger pic linked
Void i really like this track do you have other stuff similar to this?

I haven`t made music like this for years.
This was just a demonstration.
Doing this made me drag out some old dubby shit I made, I have a bunch I made in 2009 lying around.
I might put it out for free.
Why?
