Latest Smeagol track
Re: Latest Regal track
But I do;
It's utter sell-out shit.
This type of music was done way better on Rave Mission records from the early 90's. This dude is long lost.

Re: Latest Regal track
Honestly, I don't get out as much as I'd like so I'm not a good decider of what's hot and what's not these days....
But.
That is terrible. If a DJ I had gone out to see played that in a modern techno set, I'd be wondering WTF they were thinking at best. At worst, I'd probably be offering an opinion to them more directly.

Re: Latest Regal track
lol at that track and video...
Complete shite.
He actually had a few decent records some years ago... Seems like the money took control of him.

Re: Latest Regal track
Well that was corny as fuck!
(I do however fear that I would have sucked it all up if I were in my teens.)

I like (some) trance but that track is bad even by the standards of corny 90s euro trance.over9000 wrote:hmm rave trance, i have a weak spot for that i have to say. trance in generall.

A soul-free collection of cliches that took less than 2 minutes to display it`s utter banality.
File under:..... I forgot it already.

This one is slightly better in terms of production, but same spirit sadly.
Is this some kind of new format all the "sellouts" decided to go with or what ?
If this is what we're getting for the next years, then I'm very scared for the future of the scene..

Jesus, that`s even worse.
trying so hard to be musical, throwing some random arpeggios together, but nothing works, it`s like he dropped in random stuff from a sample pack "it`s in the same key, so it must work".
Fucking embarrassment.

Re: Latest Regal track
Ill never understand what people like in that supposedly 'techno' IHM track that just sounds like a fucking Tekken background soundtrack...

Re: Latest Smeagol track
The first one is just awful trance that was shit in the 90's, let alone now. The second one sounds like a jam/idea that should of most definitely stayed uncompleted and forgotten about.

Interesting description, especially the "soul free" part.Lost to the Void wrote:A soul-free collection of cliches that took less than 2 minutes to display it`s utter banality.

I have a statement in my production notepad - "What gives new, electronic music soul?"
I don't know the answer yet, but it's something I like to work towards when I'm putting a track together. I like to think that if I at least have the intent of creating something with soul, it has a better chance of being on the right track.
Re: Latest Regal track
And yet nearly 5000 likes and some rather "interesting" comments. I don't specifically like to bag anyone out (but also don't care if other people do), but can't say I'm a fan of that sound. But to be fair I've been mostly listening to Fantomas this week, so I'm probably not the best gauge for anything else at the moment.Lost to the Void wrote:Jesus, that`s even worse.
