Re: Dave Clarke Interview for Buzz.ie
One of my best techno memories, seeing Dave Clarke upstairs at the Venue in B'ham '96.
I was looking fresh in the same Hilfiger fleece that Bukem was wearing on the cover of the May mixmag. The upstairs room was empty. It was literally me, Dave and a few lost people and an intense strobe light.
Since no-one was there apart from me, he played harder and harder. and I nearly had an epileptic fit from the strobe after 3 hours. Happy days.

Ive seen Dave a few times but only really at festivals like creamfields etc. still blew my mind but would of loved to have experienced the small sweaty single strobe vibe

The Courtyard at Bugged Out when it was still the Nation in Liverpool in the late 90s was the one. Must have seen him half a dozen times there at least and he always killed it. He was by far the most creative and aggressive techno dj that I saw on the circuit around that time. Not everyone's cup of tea perhaps, but as a budding dj myself it was quite inspiring to see someone who really wasn't afraid to get stuck in.
I have to say that the interview was an alright read too. Perhaps he's mellowd a bit in his old age! Previous interviews I've read have been a bit more ranty haha.

Oh yes mate, I remember the courtyard well and yes DC always did the business in there. I remember him finishing off a banging set in there one time then he strolled on through to the Annex room and played a blinding electro set, opening with 808 state's Cubic on about plus 8 haha. He always used to pitch everything up like an Indian fast bowler.terryfalafel wrote: ↑Sun Jul 29, 2018 9:38 pmThe Courtyard at Bugged Out when it was still the Nation in Liverpool in the late 90s was the one. Remember his Peel session and his Essential mixes? The essential mix he did in 2000 was ridiculous. I don't really dig his sets these days so much but this was Dave Clarke when he was peaking.

Watched that really high a few days ago. Bouts of laughter and sadness.
