I suppose you mean Wolf's room,
but in case you do mean mine (because I have exactly the same situation : a 3-tier stand right behind me) : I've always known that high stand is just bad for my acoustics,
but there's only so much you can do with the available space in the room you have.
I think most of us should already consider themselves lucky just to have a whole room to ourselves,
so yeah, no way we'll have the privilege of having and a production room and a mixing/mastering room... :)

Was referring to wolfs pic, and the smiley was to imply an exaggerated, humorous take (although technically sound).
There is always "something" we can do to our rooms.
The sofa I sit on in the mastering room is faux leather..... a reflective surface.
When I was talking to the missus about getting a soft throw to put over it, to deaden any reflections, she gave me one of her "you are such a nerd" looks.....

Yeah, two rooms is nifty, but I have done absolutely fuck all to my production room, apart from building a unit for the live gear to go on, and hanging guitars on the walls.
There is zero sound treatment yet, and the monitors don`t sit in a particularly good place either, so I will need to move things around at some point.
But I`m getting really really good mixes in that room that translate to the mastering room really well.
My monitors are kinda awesome, which helps, although I am changing them out again soon, for a 3way, rather than the current 2.5 way setup. ( so anyone looking to buy some monitors, I will be selling mine soon).
At some point, when I rearrange the room, and paint it, I will think about maybe doing some treatment in there, but after the epic, and still being tweaked, efforts for the mastering room, I`m kinda numb to having to do it all again.

It's more then okay over here soundwise (for quite a small room).
I know you get quite some expectations from people with such a room but the room isn't the bottleneck any more.
The bottleneck is the 'producer' in there, but I keep on learning and experimenting.

I started to do a bit of DIY but got carried away because of the thoughts that all that gear would affect my acoustics.
I can't get rid of that gear; I have a 'thing' for knobs and faders.
If I could only make music like I can DIY stuff :D.

@Hades, you have an Andromeda too? If you have an iPad, there is an awesome editor for it that really opens that synth up. Jittery knobs become no longer the only option!

Looking good, @WOLF! Which Novation unit is that? I am just getting used to a newly acquired Supernova which has an awesome editor for it that snaps to the currently loaded patch's settings. Although this one is a lot easier to get around on using the main interface than the Andy.

Here's my ornaments

Old rave flyer tucked in the storage closet
Image

Peace stone. No arguing permitted
Image

Beethoven action figure. Because fuck Mozarts.
Image

ZX Spectrum 9-pin joystick adapter. If any of you UKers actually have a ZX Spectrum and want this, it's yours.
Image

Nice compact walkman I wished was still functional. Also have one of the first Philips CD players ever made on top of a speaker.
Image

Sound panels are obvious. Also have some Philips Hue lights and LED strip running just below the ceiling. Mood lighting is important.

Also just found out about this imgur thumbnail trick:

Hey Quest, it's a novation bass station 2.
I guess you hoped it was a peak but there's no budget for that... .

I fear your memory is failing you. ;)
we have discussed the Andromeda here before, you and me.

tbh, I see no use whatsoever to get myself a SW editor (don't have a tablet either, hate those things),
I agree the knobs aren't the most responsive from time to time,
but I always got along just fine.

Maybe the knobs on your Andy are worse than the ones on mine ?
I mean, I heard so many semi "horror" stories about the Andy,
(thank god only after I got mine or I might have had 2nd thoughts)
like for example drifting out of tune all the time,
or not responding to MIDI properly,
but mine has always worked just fine (knock on wood). :)

One thing I do know :
it's one of my all time favorite synths.
I mean, during all these years, I've went through approx. 35 HW synths (last time I counted),
and tons of VST's.
Obviously, I sold most of them, but I still have about 14 HW synths here.
If my studio would burn down tomorrow, there are only a few items I'd really want to get back asap,
because I simply couldn't live without them,
and the Andy is definitely one of them.

btw :
why didn't you unwrap that Beethoven action figure and put it into some dubious position ?
I mean, the options are endless for kinky stuff...

When my girls were still in kindergarden,
they used to have this "class doll",
which you were allowed to take home for a night when it was your birthday...

When it was the turn of my oldest, I just carefully waited till she was fast asleep,
then gently removed the thing from her arms,
and started doing a seriously politically incorrect photo shoot starring him,
a few trappists, and 2 naked barbie dolls...

("Jules ontspoort")

It was a nice extra that half of the stuffing from the doll was already gone as a result of previous years of abuse by other kids, so he looked extra wasted even before I had done anything yet, haha. :D

I still can't wait till my kids get old enough to appreciate what their dad did to properly raise them in the most possibly wrong way.

for those of you with kids : please make sure the little ones are not around before scrolling down, or you'll have some explaining to do.

"Jules ontspoort"
(Jules is the name of that doll)

of course it all starts harmless, just a few trappists...

and then them barbies just couldn't help themselves

"ow my god, it's so big !!

Hades, you crazy mofo! My kids also have a Jules, now I know were all my trappists go when I'm not at home!
Last time I found him laying half dead in the kids room surrounded with my daughters barbies I needed to clean the whole playroom.
Needed lots of Cillit...
