I'm gonna make a mix of my favourite Techno tracks of 2017 and wondered what people thought of this year in the world of Techno.
One standout moment was when DAX J nearly got sent to jail for playing prayer music in his set.
Also a couple of tracks that i really enjoyed as well
I forget who we were seeing but it was pretty nondescript techno then they pulled that Flatiron track out followed up by that Rectum track. Great time that was.
I can't seem to find the Flatiron track. Is it even called Flatiron...?
Funnest set of the year goes to Jimmy Edgar who just played lots of Vin Sol and other bouncy chicago rough cuts, actually that's probably the night of the year for me. Was just pure fun.
I thought it was a bit mediocre overall. Lots of garbage and boring toolz. I bought less techno 12"s than I have in years. That said, there were some nice LPs at least, Deepchord, Shed, Claro Intelecto, Varg and 3kz all delivered quality LPs.

For me what amounted to the start of House of God's 25th bday celebrations in October was undoubtedly the highlight of 2017 (with the feb instalment not far behind), and the point when that night properly kicked off for me was when Sir Real dropped Special Request - Curtain Twitcher. Love that tune, and there was no way it wasn't gonna get played, just a question of who and when. Well, it was just when the dancefloor was starting to get a bit rowdy after a few stone cold classics had been dropped and it was clear that the place was ready to blow up, and sure enough, it was raveageddon. So perfect selection basically. Banging tune, banging night.
Lots of jazz.. electro.. classical.. rinse fm.. vaporwave (last few months).. Yesterday I bought Inner City's 1989 album - Paradise ( infectious tunes).. a Chas & Dave Xmas CD (with Sally Army brass) & Leftfield Rhythm & Stealth (never heard it) - for 3€.

Yeah, not really been listening to techno either, working with it as part of my job every day doesn`t really make me want to listen to it.
Out clubbing I saw Huren play at Khaos at Elektrowerkz. Which was exactly what I needed to hear. Confrontational, sarcastic, experimental, heavy, pounding, abrasive, at times unlistenable, the antithesis of Social media, weekly black and white promo shoot, generic yawntastico, lowest common denominator base entertainment that techno has become this year. And he`s a really sweet, intelligent guy.
My new favourite artist I think.
Musically, seeing Sigur Ros play this year was stunning. Years of playing around with visuals they nailed it this time and their music and visuals bonded in a wonderful synergy of sight and sound. Beyond beautiful. Music that makes me want to quit ever having a notion of making anything. Not really techno, but actually a damn site more techno than a lot of techno as their live setup is chock full of new technology.
Not really digging releases, mostly listening to sets and most of the time I have no clue who made the track when I like one in a set.

Year of the female producer for me. My favorite tracks were done by Peggy Gou and Amelie Lens. Actually Amelie Lens is a two-for, as she released the first Dumbcode record I've liked in a decade plus.
really unsure bout that in silence track..
its nice somehow, but something is bothering me, maybe the vocal sample cant tell
heres another banger of this kind youtu.be/wQPKLkzpgAw
