Even Jerkhain has limited capacity. They just HAVE to send people off like every other club.

This.

My friend used to be Head Of Production there. After the club nights ended, I'd just blast out my own shit for a while and see how it sounded

The sweet spot is just EVERYWHERE. It's unreal.
Yeah, when they fitted that thing I was really desperate to hear it. Martin did an amazing job, it`s not often you get proper bespoke installs in clubland, especially of that quality. It`s all way over spec, so nothing is ever getting pushed hard.
They`ve got fucking 12 x 21`s in that room (I`m a huge fan of 21`s, we used to run the infamous TS21`s on the lows in our soundsystem in the rave days and were kind of known for being eyeball vibrators), real proper round big lows in there. Nothing faked by uber folded horns, that`s some proper air getting moved. Then 18`s sitting on top for the punch in the lows.... Yeah they really did a proper job.
Six stacks of 25K of clean clean sound with bags of power to spare.

They did a really good job on the room as well though, the sound treatment keeps it all so tight.
You`d be hard pushed to find a soundsystem that well set up anywhere, it`s award winning for a reason, and really well engineered. It`s world leading. PRobably Space Ibiza is the best comparison. Makes Fucktion 1 plop seem like the overmarketed poop that it really is... all hard lows and crispy highs with fizzy low detailed mids, bleargh.....

I mena, compare MOS to Fabric. Fabric is just loud, the sound is all over the place, the sweet spot for the main room is about 8 people by 8 people right in the middle of the dancefloor. The tops are all hung and shooting around phasing each other, the lows are completely mooshy when you move out of the middle or go towards the stage area. The rumble floor is great, but yeah... Not really a very good system in there. When I went to see Monolake play Ghosts live, when he was doing his 3D thing..... The system just couldn`t deal with the uber clarity of his music....

Shame MOS music policy has been uttergack for well over a decade.

There's a Martin Audio Soundsystem at Robert Johnson over here. I had some serious 'i just feel music but not my body' - experiences there, hehe. Minimalistic room, focused on good sound. Too bad there are more afterwork like partypeople than real musiclovers going there these days. If you catch a good night with good people and booking, boom, it can be really good.

However.
Here is my old Rig partner with a stack of his lovely Void Incubus.

We are taking this out on NYE in London, not sure how much yet, maybe 50K, for a not entirely legal special party to test the waters as we both miss doing "the naughty" a fair bit. IF all goes well we will do something maybe every couple of months. I`ll let people know details to find out more closer to the date. We might offer up some sets as we plan on running for 24 hours.

It's literally just one guy, the infamous piss guy. He's been there, on and off, for many years but when he's there he literally doesn't do anything else but sit there for 8-12 hours and ask (or rather, beg) to drink peoples piss. That's some fucking dedication to your fetish. I think at this point he recognizes me and knows that there is no piss to be had so he doesn't even ask. I guess that's some real VIP status

I have little experience clubbing outside of Berlin but one that springs to mind besides Berghain is Arena Club maybe 4-5 years ago. I don't know what the manufacturer was but apparently the guy who set it up was a real sound nerd and it felt that way, very comfortable, juicy mids, smooth warm bass, clear, never too loud, detailed etc. So basically the exact opposite of most club systems.

Having been at Berghain quite a bit over the years, I find it very interesting how much the same system can vary just based on small tweaks, the format and music the DJs plays, the volume, the amount of people in the room etc - everything from perfect to absolutely terrible. I've also found it continously amazing just how many DJs, even residents, run the system too loud, even though they should know better. (hell, there's a db meter in the booth with a sticker that says "play 108!")

This totally points out my experience in clubs over here. I've heard Robert Johnsons Soundsystem at world class quality and i've heard it too loud and fucking up the room. As so as in a lot of other clubs i've been often. It's really about the dj's who have to be able to play on a soundsystem, to hear what's going on in the club and know what they're doing. I guess most of DJs are too deaf.

Best rig in Berlin was the one at Subland Club (RIP). I forgot about the rigs name but I'll ask my best mate who ran the club.

Yeah, it's a pity that you can hardly enjoy a dance in the middle or just a bit inside without destroying your ears. Those stupid earplugs you can get from the bar don't do me either. Remember me one night walking up to Radio Slave and playing the volume police :D he actually turned it down... :D Not going out frequent enough to get these proper custom made ones. Don't even get me started on P-Bar, it's just insane since they swapped the system. Bass only

Yep it's Void now. Subland was fucked by the co-owner which is one of the biggest cunt ever walked the planet. He paid his debts with the money he squeezed out of the club and he pissed off the whole crew in general. Dean was literally that short before hiring a killer from London. :D

From my experience the Fetisch element is not as crazy as its reputation. Don't get me wrong - stuff definitely happens, but a large part of Berghain is just an amazing venue. The sound system can be crazy good, but I have also had experienced waaaay too loud volumes there! (P-bar has been more a hit n miss when I've been there)

I don't know if I've been lucky, but in my experience the door policies have never been as tight as rumored (I have also never tried to get in between 1-4 in the morning, where I've heard it's hardest) when it opens and in the morning on sundays it seems like they let 20 people or so in before they turn anyone away

Yeh I hear you, I think that's the idea I had in my head, fetish stuff going on but still a good clubbing experience. Didn't plan on bergh but since our airbnb was nearby I just said on a complete whim on our first night which was a friday "fuck it shall we go have a crack at Berghein, is only round the corner" went and queued up and got told to fuck off lol so just went to bed. When I think about it, it probably was about 1am ish.

Went to a club called Magdalena instead on the Sat, which to go back onto topic had a very nice soundsystem, but i think is shut down now. It does seem in my limited Berlin experience they have some pretty brutal queue times, but once in the sound was sweet and the crowd was just a nice level, unlike London clubs where you have no trouble getting in but can end up squashed in like battery chickens.

A shit, horrible commercial club but Space in Ibiza. You could have a conversation immediately in front of the stacks.

Best I’ve experienced so far is Output in Brooklyn where they have a funktion one rig. The second is Stereo Montreal. Don’t know what system they have there but it was amazing.
