Because it's my inspiration and because every non-metalhead should listen to take techno music into another level.

I'd rather have a thread on Neurosis, who have had much more impact in the scene (without Neurosis there may well have been no meshugga) in terms of influence.

Know the name.. don't know the music, but I'm v.aware of their reputation though.

Will make a point of checking them out.. and Steve's recommendation too.

It'll be right up my street if there is no bare chested alpha-yodelling going on.

Just watch this, it`s a great recording.
Neurosis were a hardcore band who constantly progressed and changed and developed and continue to do so.
They pioneered Doom metal (along with the Melvins) and then took metal into a progressive and experimental direction, influencing people like Meshugga, Tool....

They never sold out, they don`t give a fuck about press, they release when they feel they have something to say, not because they need to release, they run their own label and publishing. They took the original punk ethic and continued to evolve with it at the heart of their philosophy.

they are one of the few bands, not just in metal but just generally, who remained true and pure to the pursuit of their art above all else, they remain creative and uncorrupted, which is very very rare.
For that they are one of the few people out there in extreme/leftfield music who keep hope alive.... for me.

Big fan of neurosis, couldn't go to the gig when they played in London, because I'm always broke as f... I considered to go and began in the queue for £££ for the tix. :D I think I'll actually do that next time.

My mother said she was on Neurosis gig in our hometown some years ago, and that it was terrible because of the venue they played. She said there was more tickets sold than actual venue capacity, so it was so hot that during the gig electricity failed. They continued the show, but it happened again twice and they left after like 30min of the set. Can't blame theme though...

Meshuggah, I know the name, know the music, but never actually listened to their stuff carefully. Maybe it's time, to do so.

While I don't disagree that Meshuggah are great, I think you'll find this forum has some of the most open minds you could find in the one place

Apologies, was just the way I read it. Wasn't having a go at you and given your post count I should have realised that you would be aware of how open minded this forum is. All good.
