In-fact in Berghain, I saw a man wearing a leather he-man vest. I admired the workmanship but questioned the practical use.
Those leather harnesses are super common in the gay leather subculture.
That at biker caps.

I can't say I miss he-man that much,
always preferred de Rode Ridder (Galaxa !!) myself, but yeah...
He-Man was an advert for a Mattel toy range.
Did they have Rode Ridder toys then?
Of course not,
and if they ever did have Rode Ridder action figures, I'd love to know about them.
But this joke was more meant to anyone living in the Flemish part of Belgium, like Jordan :) ;)

Many many moons ago I was on my way to Canada for a tobacco harvest season.
Back then nobody cared about trivial shit like your plane getting hijacked,
or some bearded guy with a passion for explosives so huge he was kindly willing to share it with the rest of us.
So me and the other Flemish guys started to drink heavily,
because back in those days, the air hostesses on long distance flights would actually still serve you alcohol almost non-stop if you kindly asked for it,
most of it totally free, and of course, if you knew how to behave while getting boozed up.
Anyway, the guy next to me saw I pulled out some Van Hamme strips,
and we got talking about strips (the most common name in English would be comics or graphic novels,
but I think apart from the French word "bandes dessinées" I don't think there really is any other proper word for it than "strip")...

At some point, he explained to me why he liked de Rode Ridder so much...
He said there is nothing funnier than the language used in de Rode Ridder strips,
and as he gave me some examples, I couldn't do anything but agree, and be destined to quote from the strip series for the rest of my life :

"na een zware dagreis doemen de massieve contouren van een nabije heuvelrug in Johan's zichtsveld op!" (het zal je maar overkomen)
"vanuit de diepste hellekrochten stuurde Bahaal zijn trawanten op de Rode Ridder af!"
"keer terug, gij addergebroed, gij zult het plat van mijn zwaard voelen !"
"gij vermetele dwaas, ge stort u recht in uw ongeluk!"
"waarachtig Galaxa, ik waande je ver van hier !"
"te lang duurde onze scheiding Johan, helaas zat ik vast tussen de grenzen van tijd en ruimte" (jawadde, die grenzen van tijd en ruimte)
...

I could go on forever...
Apologies for those who don't speak any Dutch, but I doubt even those above the Belgian border will get what's so funny about it.
I guess you just have to have grown up with that really really stupid but exactly therefore hilarious "the big red knight will come to rescue" shit.

forget what I said about "Rotten" earlier.
The 1st episode was really good, but I'm halfway through the 3rd episode now,
and it's really mediocre at best.
It's pretty much the same idea in every episode :
it used to be great here in the US, we used to have such a great product,
but then China began importing inferior shit and it all went down the drain...

I mean, some times the obviousness of how "they" work around the very simple rules is so big,
it's not even like it's the elephant in the room, it's like having 50 mammoths there and still claiming they didn't see 'em...

After getting a subscription to netflix over the past months, ive realised its pretty fucking shite.. Theres a few goodens to watch but once u start seeing all the good stuff, youre left with £1 bin movies and shit series.

Find myself plugging my laptop into my TV via hdmi and streaming any film i want online, rather than browsing Netflix these days.

Am i just picky or can you cunts relate?

Kids love it.

It has saved many a Saturday morning... well, at least given us an hour or so.

you stallion, I thought you only needed 3 minutes !

honestly, the film selection here in Belgium is just horrible.
But the series and the documentaries keep me more than busy enough.
I mean, pretty much every time I'm finished with some series, there is another one that's good.

ok, to anyone interested in watching La Casa De Papel...

the only reason I'm still watching it (almost starting the last episode), is because, deep down inside,
I have a soft spot for bank robbery films (Inside Man !!, Ocean's Eleven,...),
and the main scenario seems to be very well thought of.

However, about halfway through the 1st season, this thing gets injected more and more and more with this Spanish soap opera shit...
the stupid gay jokes,
the gigantic melodrama,
the horrible typecasting,
the massive cliché's,...

It's getting harder and harder to watch because it makes me cringe so hard...
"hey, we got our guards downstairs, now we just steal them some tools like screws, saws, drills, and they'll be able to rescue us!!!!"...

I'm still hoping the final plot twist is fucking worth it,
but I strongly suspect it's gonna be at least a 2nd season before I get any form of confirmation on that,
and I doubt I'll have that much patience.

I couldn't do it. I don't know why. I'll watch ANY old Sci-Fi but I can't deal with that show for some reason.

I've been buzzing off Altered Carbon recently.

I watched episode 1 of Altered Carbon on recommendation from a mate yesterday and it seemed really good. Nice to see some high production value sci-fi!

Tried watching altered carbon. Can't watch it.

Found it to be like one of those slowed down episodes of series that you find on YT. I guess so much of it is made in the lab, it must be difficult sonetimes for actor to really feel like they're in a flying car.

At least the old Hollywood movies had people sitting in a real car, with footage of whizzing countryside being projected onto a screen behind them. Everyone knows what's their vibe is.

I liked the concept but there's too much Maplins-esque CGI for me.

Netflix: Missus has been watching Orange Is The New Black. I utterly hated it at first, but I've grown to appreciate the effort it takes to write so many plot lines & involve new characters , while keeping the whole thing rolling forward. It's mildly funny at times to its credit. They've got a good cast. Ive watched worse.

Aye, same here. Got a few episodes in then lost interest very quickly. Can't put my finger on why though.

Star Trek Discovery is doing good things and just found out the new season of Archer is coming next month! Yass!

Oh and Big Mouth is worth a go as well.

Altered Carbon was lovely.
Bleak as fuck though.

The Good Place Season 3 is finished now.
Well worth watching, it gets better and better.
Not many comedies about ethics.

Just found out Netflix is doing The Witcher....

I haven't finished Altered Carbon yet but am really enjoying it so far.

Interesting news about the Witcher, I hope it follows the the struggles of a rising gwent player.

well, just finished watching "metalhead",
which leaves me with only 1 more episode of Black Mirror to watch.

I can see why some of you didn't think metalhead, well, belonged in the series.
But if you think metalhead was bleak, you should try watching "The Road",
never saw anything more depressing than the scene where father and son are inside some temporarily deserted cannibal house, where they just discovered the basement is full of living corpses,
and the washbasins are full of cut up pieces of human corpse,
and they hear the cannibals coming back, and all they got is 1 gun with 1 bullet,
so basically, the father wants to shoot his son to spare him from getting cut up to pieces and being eaten alive.

I know this might sound like an only average horror movie scenario,
but you know that in this case, it could actually be a possible future.
And as a parent, that scene.... pfff...
Just, whatever you do, if you saw "metalhead" and thought that was depressing,
whatever you do, don't EVER watch "The Road". :|

Wild Wild Country

Documentary with lots of sides, 6 hours of excitement and wonderment. About the Bhagwan settling in Oregon and building a commune, and getting attacked by the state... Some proper evil and some proper good, its a wild ride.

hah, was thinking about watching that one.
But too many of their documentaries have disappointed me in the last few months.

Really worth it ?

I enjoyed it, it kept making me want to play the next episode.... It doesn't tell you anything about the gurus teachings but it tells an interesting developing story from lots of sides. I do recommend it.

Didn't read through the thread so I don't know if it was mentioned, if it was it deserves another mention. Mr Robot. I'm just a few episodes in, and it's really interesting AND batshit crazy.
