Loved Blood Meridian & The Road, which should I read next?

If you want something normal go with "No Country for Old Men", if you want something fucked up then "Child of God"

No Country For Old Men ??? ;)
Especially since it's far less depressing !!

Honestly, I watched about 20 films/month for about 12 years straight.
Even the most boring art-house cinema, I could watch it till the end.
I was gonna read "The Road", but I found the DVD on some flea market...
I watched it halfway, and just had to quit.
That scene where they're in the house and they just discovered the living corpses in the cellar (such a clever detail that they smoke their meat, to preserve it better... :? ) and the cannibals are coming...
and the father has only 1 single bullet and he puts the gun in his son's mouth...
Man... I had only 1 kid at the time, but right then, right there, that was the end of me watching that film (well, I know he didn't end up killing him, but still).
Lots of people have told me the 2nd part of the film is far less depressing,
and I still got the DVD, but I simply never had the stomach to continue...
And it's not because of the horror scenes, too numb to care for most of that shit, it's because deep down you know things actually could turn out that way if some natural disaster did actually happen some day... :|

There's this new show called Mindhunter about FBI profilers. David Fincher and Joe Penhall (who wrote The Road) are behind it, so I've got high expectations.

Anyone watched it yet?

Yes, just binged it over a couple of days. I'm biased due to intense interest in the psychology and personality of serial killers since I was a teen (favourite books Hunting Humans and Bad Girls Do It!), but the series is well written, carefully paced, with a brilliant cast (especially Kemper). S1 episodes 1, 2, 9 and 10 are directed by Fincher. Dialogue-heavy, light on graphic violence. The only irritating thing is that S2 is coming out in autumn 2018, a year of waiting. Nevertheless, highly recommended.

I actually thought the film adaptation wasn't that bad,
but I do agree There Will Be Blood was a boring ass film.

Hehe good for you mate :) I find it very difficult to read anything that is more then a few sentences due to my brain just "zones out" even when reading stuff I find interesting and want to read

Trust me, I don't judge people if they don't read books. Some people are just not made for reading, just like some people suck balls when they try to learn to play an instrument or whatever. :)
I do however get slightly annoyed if people always use excuses for not reading (not saying you are),
while you know they just don't like to read.
(like the people that say "I just don't have the time for reading right now, but I'm hoping to find some time later on", and you know they'll just watch some Hollywood blockbuster if they would have more time)

People like different things, that's just how it is.
But somewhere, somehow, people are tricked into believing they are less intelligent when they don't read books, which is a myth, I know more than enough intelligent people that hardly ever read or vice versa.

Let's just say that to me, when I walk into a someone's bedroom or living room, and I see a tiny book shelf,
I have the same feeling most of us must have when they see one of these hipster designer record shelves that can hold maybe 20 records. First thing you think is : how the fuck can that hold enough records ? Surely these people must not be serious music fans. :)

Here's a quick pic of my library, you can only see half of the room, but it gives you an idea...
(and I'm of course just blatantly bragging with the lovely woodwork job I did) ;) :

It's amazing. Do not watch the second season, as it is garbage.

absolutely. I don't even get how some people had anything positive to say about it at all...
but the 1st season... fucking hell, that's some dark, disturbing shit.

I started watching Mindhunter yesterday and liked it a lot.
Not saying it's great, stuff like Stranger Things blows it away massively,
but it's no doubt high quality entertainment.

I finishend Stranger Things S2 a few days ago.
Binge-watched it like crazy.
It's far better than the 1st season.
Highly recommended ! And the soundtrack is even twice as good as in the 1st season.

Not Netflix, but started watching The Deuce. 3 episodes in and already shaping up as a must watch series.

I try not to give spoiler (since we don't have a spoiler tag) but to me the second season was very similar to first one. I liked it but I'm expecting much more from season 3.

tbh, I fear the worst for season 3.

There's very little I didn't like in season 2,
the characters had FAR more depth,
they added a few great new characters,
there's lots of different storylines...

They could perfectly stop now, as far as I'm concerned,
because I fear it will only go downhill from now if they're not careful.
