That's actually a kind of myth. There was a hypothesis, but no conjecture, actually a small minority considered the cooling hypothesis to be valid, the larger body of science pointing towards global warming (which obviously is now an overwhelming body of evidence), it was bad journalism at the time that cause the idea that there was any kind of conjecture.

is that the word "global warming" is just generalizing what happens in a very simple way.

Yes, in general, our planet gets warmer, but this is generally speaking,
on a more practical level, this also means we get more extreme weather conditions on most parts of our planet.
You live into a rainy country ? Expect tons more rainy days.
Live in a rather dry climate ? Say goodbye to almost all rainy days.

It's not just a higher temperature in general.

No need to apologise and yes I did, which has been a contributory factor in not getting back into work. There's fewer jobs at the middle/top than entry level and employers aren't always keen on you taking a step down as they fear you'll leave sooner. Best of luck with your course.

Hey, I'm not saying there ain't nefarious types (and states) pushing for a hard Brexit in their own interest. But if the mainstream media had paid any attention to the resentment and confusion out on the "fringes", they might have been less secure in their predictions and aware of a shift towards a more inwards, nationalist discourse (from the right OR left for that matter as Labour are hardly EU-flag wavers). That discourse is not just "made up" by a bunch of right-wing billionaires, just as a globalist discourse are not made up by a global liberal elite with George Soros at the helm. That is just a way too reductionistic view of cultural shifts, that is my only point.
