But to be honest I dont really listen to techno that often.

Surgeon remix (pre-bloopy blippy modular phase) of Xhin.
It`s otherworldly, almost makes no sense, and I still have a hard time working out what the fuck he did.
Hearing it on a soundsystem sent me in to a K-Hole, despite being sober.
It`s like the moment after taking a Salvia hit where the world fragments and warps and you fall down in to the "other place".
Possibly my fave thing he has done, and to me is what techno is all about.
"what the fuck was that?, what just happened?"

Fuuuuuuccckkkkk, that is a tune and a half! This answers a question from a few years ago, I was at HOG and he was on fire (as per the norm), and then he dropped something else entirely that just obliterated the place, and I had no idea what it was, but I think its this.
With regards to his modular noodlings, I get ya, but I think some of it has merit, when I've seen him doing it live he's totally nailed it imo, but I'm not entirely sold on his new album which is basically a modular wank. But, I heard this and thought it was pretty good, even a bit like his early stuff. But yeah, more stuff like that Xhin remix please!
Even that blueprint tune is kinda..... Normal, almost generic. It's an nice but nothing about it says Surgeon, it doesn't stand out or contain that... Surgeon-ness..
It's hard for me to say this, as far as heroes go, I have very few, but Tony is one of the guys I look up to for being a true artist and for constantly moving forwards and keeping me surprised and interested. But this is sorta...... Meh. As are the live modular doodles.

I reckon he feels he wanna do what he does for now. Kudos to that.

Yeah, he's taken a lot of twists and turns, I've not been down with all them (most of them though!), but he is one of the best out there, and I think a big part of that is the fact that he keeps moving forward without compromise. Nothing but respect for the Surgeon!
Another tune that wowed me semi-recently - not the sort of thing I usually go for, quite basic in execution, but this one really got me:
Blitz is a track I played out lots. It's something about that basic energy and moody pads.
In fact I played tons of Cleric out pre his release days. Lovely chap.
