The last track that Wowed you
Re: The last track that Wowed you
and because I gotta stop or I'd go on forever,
I'd like to end with a pure deep techno track that one of the people that likes my music on SC sent me.
First time I listened to it, it was 4AM, and I was home alone high as fuck on E.
But that really doesn't matter, this thing still blows me away when I'm totally sober.
I had heard of edit select before, but because I'm broke, I deliberately stopped checking out new music,
so yeah...

Loving that one Hades
Creativity is not a technique, it is a way of life.
Re: The last track that Wowed you
For a break from the techno I stuck on some London Funk All Stars last night. Quality music, great beets, great stabs -> samples if I'm not mistaken.
Re: The last track that Wowed you
Oh wow, I have all of Xhin's stuff but haven't listened to all of it properly as of yet. After seeing this recommendation I went back and put this on and was wow-ed by it too. Thanks for the recommendation!Lost to the Void wrote:Surgeon remix (pre-bloopy blippy modular phase) of Xhin.
It`s otherworldly, almost makes no sense, and I still have a hard time working out what the fuck he did.
Hearing it on a soundsystem sent me in to a K-Hole, despite being sober.
It`s like the moment after taking a Salvia hit where the world fragments and warps and you fall down in to the "other place".
Possibly my fave thing he has done, and to me is what techno is all about.
"what the fuck was that?, what just happened?"

I want more of this kind of madness from Tony
I can definitely appreciate what you mean by it being reminiscent to a K-hole lol. Was mixing this into my latest techno demo mix and had had a few bumps of k, and I got that effect completely and I was only on headphones. Now I reallllly want to hear it on a massive and loud PA!!

Re: The last track that Wowed you
you know, I quite liked his Kerosine album,
back in the day when minimal was still the thing.
but I find it disappointing to see that almost 10 years later he's still making the exact same type of music,
and I really mean exactly the same stuff.
Still embracing the Moog, still the same claps and snares,...
anyway, to each his own, you know,
not dissing your taste Chielos,
maybe you weren't out raving yet when Bodzin was getting played everywhere ?
and what is that controller btw ?
Looks like some personalized Livid controller or something.

I don't usually listen to this kind of Techno. But I have to say, this track is genius.jordanneke wrote:THIS is the business for me at the moment.

I love that blend between the 4/4 kick and those breaks. Amazing

Re: The last track that Wowed you
Hades, pretty much anything by this guy, tbh...
printed out like 30 pages of his sheet music, but a lot of it is very repetitive, which is something I usually hate to play
(Max Richter is better for me in that regard)
you know his album "Felt"? Titled like this, cause he put felt between the mechanics of his piano. "Familiar" is my all time favourite song, the whole LP is amazing!
Btw I will leave this video here, you could lock me in there for ten years...and Frahm making some pizza and teach me piano

I need an Oberheim 8 Voice and a Korg 3100 now

I have half of the Felt album on sheet music, thx to Annemie Van Riel,
here's one example of one of her Nils Frahm tutorials
youtu.be/zQlkELG-aQk
Not sure if you play keys,
but Annemie is a great person, I regularly ask her to write out sheet music for me from youtube video's,
since I'm too lazy to do it all myself
(and I haven't written out sheet music in 20 years, just cause I can fluently read it, it unfortunately doesn't mean I can fluently write it )
I would take lessons with her, but I know it's no use,
she says so herself I'm far above the level where I would have any real benefit from her lessons...
last one she wrote out as sheet music for me just arrived 2 days ago :
youtu.be/oMrlHOyE7xY
it's just a more easy jazzy kind of version of the original,
and I prefer it way better than the original sheet music, which is quite boring to play in comparison.
One of the nicest parts about playing piano for almost 30 years now, is that I can sight-read most sheet music,
if it's of course not something extremely technically difficult,
though even this one isn't the easiest one to play though. A lot of strange chords...

no you don't.Barskiniov wrote:I need an Oberheim 8 Voice and a Korg 3100 now
I once played an Oberheim 8 voice, wasn't half as good as I expected...
(but maybe I'll change my mind after watching that video)
I have an Xpander (really temperamental bitch, but owww when she's in the mood for love....... )
and a Matrix 1000 + access programmer here now.
You'd be amazed how much you can already do with the Matrix 1000,
it's basically a matrix 6 or 12, but without the different filter types (the Xpander has like 10 different filter types for example).
btw, mr Barskiniov, I know you liked my Patroclus track a lot,
did you hear the improved mix I did a few weeks ago ?
Still waiting for an even better finalized mix (mastered and so on),
but in the mean time :
sorry for the spam guys

Re: The last track that Wowed you
Yeah the Matrix 1000 is on my list, but first I have to get the Sub 37...I like the old mix better actually, but there is a resonant frequency in the lows that doesn´t allow to turn the volume up...in the main loop I mean. But it´s an emotive track, still like it a lot:)
Re: The last track that Wowed you
the old version just has a really bad mix.Barskiniov wrote:Yeah the Matrix 1000 is on my list, but first I have to get the Sub 37...I like the old mix better actually, but there is a resonant frequency in the lows that doesn´t allow to turn the volume up...in the main loop I mean. anyway, just watched a video from Olafurs studio, nice stuff.
did you know you can get a pack of his sounds for Kontakt ?
Really expensive, but yeah, the felt piano on that is just beautiful.
btw, the synth in Nils' studio is not an 8 voice I think, it looks more like a 4 voice.
doesn't matter though.
but believe me when I say this : a LOT of these really "legendary" synths sound disappointing just dry out of the box,
but really come alive with proper EQ and some decent outboard.
So it's not that impossible to make even the cheaper synths sound really fantastic.

I'm a major sucker for video game OST and while playing the final expansion of The Witcher III, this track wowed me a lot.
