Hahaha. Yeah, I was about come through with my plans of robbing my neighbours from their silver until I realized it's better to save up some street creds for when things get really tough. Like that time when an 808 came online for 4000000 euros.

I'm from Belgium.Alume wrote:Yeah, somehow thought the rareness made it 500+WOLF! wrote:Quite a high price. You're at SF???
Had one but sold it. I have a DX11 now and I like it.
You dutch too? Or frol Belgium?
500 euro ; Way to much for that thing and they are certainly not rare.
The volca FM tip that has been given here is a good one. Although I never tested one myself I've seen that everything is accessible from the device itself.
Re: Yamaha DX200
i had TX7 for a while..... midi port had a lot of latency (for real)....
while i had it , i found Dexed a free plugin which is a replica of DX7 , and also a sysex patch editor..

Belive me , this thing sounds exactly the same... i compared complete banks of it....
After a while... i sold the module and kept the plugin...

Re: Yamaha DX200
My personal favorite of the old Yamaha FM synths was the TQ-5...
Despite a slightly clunky user interface (though better than the older models) it offered more features than any of it's predecessors as it contains an 8 track sequencer and FX.
Also it has a very 'unique' appearance.
Other than the user interface, i personally believe it to be superior to the DX200 or Reface DX.
Though as i mentioned earlier, for modern features, price and ease of use the Volca FM wins for me.

Just on a sidenote.. as I'm not sure when I'll get a chance to mention this again. I've already forgotten / remembered / forgotten a good few times already
BUT the kick from LFO's 'Tied Up' sounds very like the 'Rotterdam Gabber Kick' from the DX200.
Its kinda the standard overdriven kick & some EQ.. but it sounds very similar to me.
