I watched like 5 out of 7 seasons of The Shield.
Is it worth watching the rest ?

Just finished watching Justified last week, last season wasn't so great, but the series as a whole had a lot of great moments.

Sorry forgot to say Netflix.

And yeah I stuck with Shield to the end, thought it was defo worth it.

thx for the links

I'm at about 13 minutes in, (and knew I had seen footages of Huntington before)
and that woman from the fire department...
There was or still is a documentary on Netflix about the same problem.
It's not very long, maybe half an hour,
but it follows that same fire department woman.

I remember one of the stories my mrs told me some day...
junkie parents are in their car with their 3 kids,
(who already grew up in total misery of course)
and dad makes a turn not noticing the traffic from the other way.
Car drives straight into their side.
The mother and 1 of the kids were instantly dead.
Father in a coma.
Only people who could take care of the 2 remaining kids were the grand parents from the father's side,
who were well of age.
The grandmother suffered a stroke from the emotion and died within weeks after the accident.
So yeah, all there was left was this grandfather, having to take care of 2 young kids all of a sudden.

watching that 2nd documentary now...
man, that guy saying full of pride how he and his brother got named after a cadillac (Sedan & Seville),
that shit just seriously cracked me up... :D
It's tragic, but I can't help but laughing like crazy...

Like when I hear of some girl called "Mercedes"...
how can I not think of some porn model when I hear that name for a woman ??
Why is that even a name at all, FFS... :?

I honestly don't think they are brutal in any way,
but I do understand what you mean with bleak. :)

But to be perfectly honest, I think that's mostly got to do with the fact that till recently he just covered topics that are far harder to put into perspective than what he did with his older series.
I mean, watching neo-nazi's in their daily lives, no matter how disturbing they can be or even get,
can always put some kind of smile on our face at some point, even if we despise them.
Same for all these über-religious clans in the US.
And who doesn't start smiling when they watch some documentary about swingers, right ?

It's a lot harder to still be smiling when he covers shit like Huntington's heroïne's problem or murder rates going up somewhere for very little reason.
It's a less absurd and/or abstract side of reality than swingers or neo-nazi's.

anyway...

Well, at least they can look on the bright side.
They don't live in Hull.

Yeah.. been watching those also. He's so neutral on that the story tells itself.

The Milwaukee one was bizarre.. but then again, look at a map of all the shootings in the USA. It's common. Sad news tonight from Sutherland Springs of course..

Really enjoyed the one about the animals in L.A. a few weeks ago. Thought it would be a bit weak compared to the others.. but it was superb.
