15 year old documentary about some homeless people living in underground tunnels. I just watched it recently. It's pretty good.

Watched Montage of Heck, very well made but not that informative or intimate if you "read" his diary/sketches before....

I saw Zeitgeist 3 a few months ago and can highly recommend it.
I'm still planning to watch part 1 and 2,
but it sure as fuck isn't uplifting stuff to watch.

but then again, I refuse to just ignore depressing truths.
I brought kids into this world, I better learn some hard truths about it that 99.9% of our population just wants to ignore because they prefer to go wild for the next fucking iPhone...

no offence Oxa,
but what exactly is new in this video ?
I mean, I just finished watching the whole approx. 45 minutes,
and I couldn't help but thinking I wanted my time back.
all I can say is that I honestly have never seen that many missile launches in my whole life,
and that I didn't know those missiles could cause a temporary outage of radar systems, nor that they could use the "energy" above the earth to multiply their destructive power.
Other than that, it was just a typical example of the war race between the US and Russia that was going on during the cold war.

Maybe I'm just too old to still have known the days of the old USSR and the so called "threat" they were supposed to be.
I'd say nowadays that "threat" is a lot more real than when I was a kid.

youtube suggested me another video about Tchernobyl as "next",
definitely gonna watch that.
I feel films like that and the Zeitgeist stuff is far more important nowadays than a documentary about a war race that went on (and is still going on but we're sure as fuck never gonna find out about untill decades later) approx 50 years ago, you know ?

a few months ago, some folks sabotaged a nuclear power plant in Belgium.
I can have all the solar panels on my roof that I want, trying to help us preserve our natural sources of energy,
and trtying to help prevent more polution of our planet,
but if some terrorist wants to sabotage a nuclear power plant in my country,
and does it all the way
we're just fucked... :(

Oh I get you, because ofcourse i learnt some history and have seen movies like this one before.

But fuck me.

NUCLEAR WEAPON TESTS IN SPACE? like "hei guis whi no blov up moar cherno? letz pollute srsly everiwere!!4!"

I know, we know there were tests on Earth in every direction like underwater, underground, on the ground, above the ground, on water... All of them caused serious damages!
Just have a look at some countries extreme weather changes, nature disasters. I find every aspect of nuclear weapons simply disgusting and this was enough to post it.

The other thing is, you can't watch enough rocket explosions, specially if it's muricas bombs. Before this one, I have only seen USSR bombs explosions, simple propaganda with the message: russians couldn't even launch bombs, WE americans are much better even in testing! (again.. we are talking about fucking tactical nuclear weapons)

BTW I watched the Chernobyl movie, was doing other stuff meanwhile, but there were lot of interesting informations (many of them again sad) and was good to listen to something which is based on declassified informations, released like 2-3 years ago?!

And now for something completely different: Philosophy.

Alain de Botton on a pursuit to decrypt happiness with the great philosophers over the course of 6 videos. Very good:

Agreed about seeing the US rockets explode.
That was probably the only entertaining factor about that film.

There are many docu's about Chernobyl, so I wanna make sure, did you see this one ??

youtu.be/dS3WvKKSpKI

watch the part around 1:00
the whole thing is absolutely shocking, and I'm still only 2/3 finished, but at around that time, they discover the whole roof is full with radio-active debris, and they gotta get rid of it. First they use robotic construction machines, but after a few days even the robots stop functioning because the electronics get screwed by radiation.
So in the end they just take soldiers (nicknamed "bio-robots" for the occasion), cover them with lead, and send them out on the roof with shovels (!!!!) to throw the radio-cative debris off the roof.
Radiation is so high there that they can only stay there for approx. 45 seconds...
Can you imagine doing that ?
Fucking hell man, I don't know your age Oxa, but I was 8 when Chernobyl happened, and I remember damn well how nobody really knew for sure what the consequences could be, they just told us all to not eat vegetables from your own garden for a while.
But apparantly they came extremely close to a 2nd explosion that would have made most of Europe inhabitable...
I actually never even knew the part about the 2nd explosion untill now.
Fucking nuclear power man, they'll never learn.
Fucking cunts...

I got another documentary lined up on nuclear waste that I read about a few years ago, and that is frightening as hell.
Maybe I'll watch it today, maybe not,
A man can only take so much depressing shit per day, right ? :|
Will post it as soon as I saw it though.

That one, yes. I can't find words to say about it, it speaks for itself.

Im a young cunt, 20, no secret, I heard that what you mentioned from my father (living in hungary, under communism, no info, everything okay, the rain had some kind of smell and colour, but who cares?).

no shame in your age man, just mentioning mine to show that I remember it from having been alive at that time.

I was finally having breakfast approx 3 hours later than I usually do, and right then in the documentary they showed just a few pics of these misformed children,
man, as a father, I almost started puking...

just finished watching the other film.
Superb documentary.
I love what the director did with this material, the questions he asks (and how nervous at times the people get because even they have no clue what future generations will think of this if they (hopefully never) discover it), and the wonderful soundtrack.

Dark and threatening, just like the contents that those miles and miles of long tunnels are constructed to contain for 100.000 years to come.

Fucking awesome documentary, highly recommended.

youtu.be/gQ3dT7xcMgU

and a big applause to the Finish people for at least trying to do something half decent with the nuclear waste our societies produce.
would be even better to not use nuclear power at all, but yeah, I guess most countries are too stupid to consider that. :|

all I see is more hype added to the bullshit

no offence, to each his own taste, but to me Daft Punk is to electronical music what Hergé is to "bandes déssinées"/graphic novels/comics/whatever you wanna call it.
As a Belgian, I always felt completely stupified by the fact that the whole world was always talkig about Hergé (Tintin !!!!),
and Franquin (who makes way way WAY better drawings than Hergé,and didn't use a whole team at the end like Hergé did)
is almost unknown outside of Belgium, even if this is the guy who invented infamous characters like the Marsupilami,
and made Robbedoes & Kwabbernoot (Spirou & Fantasio) into a fantastic series, way beyond what the first few albums tried to do with those characters.

I remember being a student at univ around '96/97 (or was it '97/98 ??)
and hey, all of a sudden, the whole fucking city was talking about "around the world around the wo-orld, around the world, around the wo-orld"
and to me, honest to God, it sounded boring as fuck, from the start,
and no matter how many albums later, they still sound boring as fuck to me.
and that whole "hide our identity" thing...
pfff.... :?

Hergé is Daft Punk
Franquin is Laurent Garnier...

and Laurent Garnier definitely deserves far more attention (and sales numbers for that matter) than those 2 "hide behind a helmet" dudes...
I mean, FFS, the end of that video, the guy "unlocks" his helmet, and just when he's about to lift it up, woohoo, the video ends...
ow come on... :?
as if I'm supposed to go "aaaawwwww"
you know what ?
fuck you, daft cunt !

apologies to winston ;) just expressing my frustration with these guys from day one when they got "famous"
I'm still waiting for this one single track that shows to me that they are worthy of their outrageous world-wide fame...
I doubt that day will ever come...

Daft Cunt, one of the most over-rated music acts ever, if you ask me... :?
