I watched it too. Has a few good and interesting moments. Quite well made too. But nothing special I would say

i don't know Franquin, but i agree with your sentiment.
There's a bit in the documentary which discusses daft punk at Coachella in 2006, and how that was the 'moment' electronic music/edm arrived in the USA, similar to the Sex Pistols gig in Manchester which 'made' Punk music (http://www.openculture.com/2015/06/the- ... world.html). This obviously has a bit of rose-tinted hyperbole about it. The american music business saw what could be done with electronic music, how it could be exploited, how it was underground & cool, how it could be heavily monetized (and stripped of what made it good in the process).
i think it's elements of right place & right time, and elements of enough originality.

for me the best daft punk stuff was/is Alive 97, the Live at the Arches & Bugged Out bootlegs and Roule tracks. But i was a couple of years too young to witness any of that.

Anything Adam Curtis. Bitter Lake is exceptional and highly factually correct. It is a hard watch though.
I enjoyed I Dream Of Wires.

Basil Blackshaw - short doc on i player - really interesting man - had no idea he exists beforehand.

Basil Blackshaw, An Edge of Society Man
The enigmatic Irish artist speaks for the first time on film about his art.

Also the ancient Attenborough one also on i player - The Land Divers of Pentecost = tonnes to enjoy here, e.g. the singing and chanting - reminded me of Ocora records type music i'd forgotten about it and am now listening again (dled tonnes ages ago - a lot of it is winner - - great idea for a label - anthropology must be so interesting to carry out)

http://www.thewire.co.uk/in-writing/ess ... recordings

Yeah agreed on Adam Curtis - legend - what's going on in Syria is another Bitter Lake etc...

Yes, well, in a way. The whole situation is so fucking complex. You could read about it for a long long time and still not get it. I have gone out of my way to educate myself about all of what is going on and what I know doesn't even scratch the surface. It is a fucking big, awful mess.

didn't know that shit about Alan Ginsberg,
but I honestly don't really care about Ginsberg anyway.

Did you miss our old subsekt discussion about this Jordan ?
It was a pretty long and deep one.
I don't care about delving into the topic too much now, to be honest,
and I don't feel like any kind of serious discussion on here anyway for the moment,
too many shallow idiots around lately.

I've only been just past the 20 minutes mark in that documentary you posted,
but yeah, the pedo in the yellow sweater is the typical case of the ones who truely honestly believe the kids are "seducing" them.
It's completely ridiculous how these total sicko's keep on fooling themselves.
But uptill now the only thing really shocking (to me) about this video (it's barely worth the name "documentary" tbh) is in my opinion how you see some of the worst slimey creeps just walking around free and taking pride in their horrible fucked up nature. :?

Best video I've ever seen about this topic is this one that Steve posted a link to back then :

youtu.be/YIhdPsxqGjc

You will never forget what you've seen here. Not the imagery, but the information you are given.
They are a big bunch of creeps, usually highly organized (their "organization" here in the video you posted is almost a laugh compared to what you'll see in the video above), and protected by very high people.
And it's been going on for sooooo long.

Watch the video in my link. I think any decent parent should see this.
Whether or not it is upsetting is not the point.
And to be honest, even if I haven't seen it in at least 2 years or so,
I think it's less "respulsive" material to watch than the one you posted.
It's a true documentary, not some kind of slimey collection of "proud to be pedo" imagery.

btw Jordan, did you ever see the Louis Theroux documentary where he visits this huge prison for sexual delinquents in California ?
There were like 5000 people there, and this was their "alternative" prison.
Basically, they were put in there so that the other prisons had less problems with keeping them apart from the normal prisoners who would just straight ahead kill them off.

They were not even "forced" to go into therapy,
so only like 50 people actually followed therapy.

You could see cellwalls decorated with almost naked boy pics (!!!), and when Theroux asked them if they didn't consider this wrong,
they said it was just "art".
yeah yeah...

In the end only 1 single person (1 out of like the 5000 in there) got himself castrated, because he said "I'll never change, this is the only decent thing I can do to save young kids from me doing them harm".
It says a LOT about how good these people are at deluting themselves.

Yeah man, problem is seeing that shit and thinking of my own kids makes me want to batter the shit out of those cunts. Seriously.

There's a creepy dude at the end of the street (on the dutch side) who always comes out of his house to look at and smile at my kids when my wife takes them to school. He creeps her out and even touched one of them on the head. He reminds me of one of these fucks in the video

When I took them to school the other day, he came out. I gave him a look like 'You fucking touch my kids, I'll fuck you up', and he stopped smiling and went back inside.

Problem is, he could just be an overly friendly guy, but he shows too much interest in my kids for a single 60yr old for me to trust. So fuck it, I am not gonna take the chance. In fact in all likelihood he's probably just a little weird, but still........

Yeah I saw that.

That fuck with the boys on the wall. He deserves to get his hands cut off. As my colleague says, it's not the nuts that do the damage, it's the hands.....

But in all honesty, if you commit repeated sex acts with anyone say '15' and below (if you are say '22' or older) then you should probably have the option to stay in jail for ever (as the docs all show they don't get rehabilitated), or get castrated.

you don't have to tell me man.
in the old high school I went to, I can name at least 2 of these fucks,
and one of them fucked up my favourite sister (the one that died) for years,
and trust me if I say the damage is mostly mental, not physical.
I'm happy I live far away from that place nowadays.
One of my other sisters lives in the same small town as that fuck, and this guy still teaches at that same school 2 of her sons now go to, and where her husband even teaches.
He's been declared a total paria by the whole teachers department, but he's still teaching there,
and local law enforcement hasn't punished him to this day, even though there were many testimonies by several of his victims.
That's Belgium for you allright !
Though to be totally honest, I believe these fucks are just everywhere, no matter what part of the world, nationality, race, age,...

You might also better have your "radar" on in any of the typical places they tend to dwell,
because these folks aren't just school teachers, they also love to become sport trainers, or be scouts leaders or swimming trainers or...

A few weeks ago, I was sitting on a bench near some deserted playground, reading a book while drinking a beer,
waiting for an old friend to arrive to have a difficult talk with,
and some mother came up to the playground with 2 of her kids,
and I could feel her checking me out, like "WTF is this grown-up guy doing here, sitting near a playground for kids, with no kids of himself ?" while the only reason I was sitting on that particular bench was because it just happened to be the closest bench I could find for the 45 minutes I had to kill...
It felt really horrible to be "screened" like that, and yet I know I've done the same on other playgrounds with other people.

I've worked with kids for so many years,
and I've seen the whole climate in Belgium change from "no worries" to "WTF were you looking at my kid for longer than 3 nano-seconds, you cunt !!"
Both of these ways of handling with this extremely serious issue are wrong,
but I'd rather misjudge someone or even be misjudged myself (even though it breaks my heart the once or twice I sensed it happen),
than any kid ever be the victum of one of those fucked up sexual predators.

btw : if you missed the original discussion, let me know via PM and I'll hook you up.
unfortunately, as a parent, there's just some stuff you have to deal with which is totally unpleasant, but yeah,
better to be informed than to be ignorant.
This is just far too important to be ignorant about. :|

watch the documentary Jordan, it's just a must I'm afraid. :|

As a parent myself its sad that viewing like this no matter how repulsive becomes compulsory in a know your enemy manner.
