It`s funny, weed was essentially banned for financial reasons, and now it is being legalised for financial reasons. All the states are broke, and all the states that are legalising weed suddenly have massive tax revenue from legal weed. At some point, once enough states jump on the bandwagon, the federal administration will decriminalise it. Once that happens the same will happen over here.
Capitalism does have a few positives.

The war on drugs was a massive fail, I think that's safe to say. The Irish government not being able to make decisions by themselves just took Americas policy on the war on drugs and made them all illegal.
Idiots.
In this day and age now though, as soon as England decriminalise it, I say Ireland will follow suit for sure. I heard Italy have made it legal for recreational use (I think) about 2 weeks ago. One of the first countries in the EU to do it.

Also, I heard some states like Colorado are making so much money from the taxes on weed that they don't actually know what to do with so they decided to give some back to the citizens of Colorado!?
EDIT: I read an article about a month ago of a weed farmer in Colorado that is making 40k a week by selling weed to the government. How fucking sweet is that?! Growing/looking-after weed plants and getting paid 40 grand a week by the government!! That is heaven ladies and gentlemen.

the best thing they could do is legalise weed and regulate the strength, ive started smoking it a bit again in the last year or so and sometimes it really blows my head off. i only have a tiny bit at a time now. weed that isnt so strong can only be a good thing, or at least have some idea how strong it is.

It`s not really the strength that is the problem so much as the way it is harvested.
In a lot of UK vietnamese gang sourced stuff, they crop it too early, so you get a wopping big rushy hit, but it`s shitty, the trichomes are all full of THC and have no or Little CBD, you want CBD in there, it`s the antipsychotic part of weed.
As soon as you take the production of weed out of the hands of criminals, there will be no problems like this, as it is essentially down to rushing a crop. As soon as the buds get glassy, they crop em.

Proper weed grown by proper people will be harvested (and cured) properly.
Curing is super important too, gang weed, they don`t have time for a proper cure, your weed should be dry and almost brittle, any moisture in there means improper cure, and that means the chlorophyll hasn`t leached out properly (headaches, planty taste etc).

So legalisation is better for everyone.

It was made legal in Belgium about 15 years ago.
But it was always a very shady way of "legal". You were for example allowed to smoke it at your own home, and you were allowed to have like 5grams (could have been 15, I have no idea how much it was), and you were allowed to have 2 plants in your home for private use.
But if you were smoking it with several people, you were being illegal.
How stupid was that ?

I was once sitting in my garden (of a rented house), and I had just finished rolling a massive fat blunt when I heard a police voice behind me asking me to come closer (the side of my garden had an alley where students regularly crossed). I seriously they were gonna arrest me for the blunt (which was in plain sight, and nowhere I could throw it into without being seen), but no, all they did was ask me questions about an accident that occured earlier that afternoon in my street.

Ex-colleague of mine lived in Denver for 7 years. He left before things got really crazy, but he remembered very clearly how at first you needed a prescribtion to get weed, but how any doctor would just be extremely happy to hand it to you as soon as you were 25+, because that made the statistics look great, it meant not only young folks smoked weed.
All you needed to say was you had problems with headaches or whatever and you got the prescribtion.

That whole indica/sativa thing is mostly bollocks you know.
I can grow a cbd heavy sativa or a thc heavy indica, again this all comes down to when you harvest.

Clear/milky trichomes - early harvest - all thc
Milky trichomes - full strength thc
Mix of milky and Amber trichomes - good balance of thc and cbd "goldilocks"zone
All Amber trichomes - thc has turned to cbd - mostly cbd sleepy weed - late harvest good for pain relief and couch lock

Always examine the trichomes before you buy if you can, or just DIY
