Hangovers
Hangovers
I don't know about you guys but I normally really suffer after I've been drinking. Most of the time I can't eat anything the following morning until I've sobered up or Ive got rid of the headache. Sometimes the headaches are so bad that I can't even move lol.
I know that some people can drink gallons and wake up the next day and feel completely fine. I sure it's a combination of keeping hydrated and sleeping it off. This morning i woke up at 6am, still in work mode. Ive tried drinking a pint of water before I start and before I go to bed but I just wake up really early needing to go I the toilet lol.
On a plus note I had 2 bottles of wine last night and I feel completely fine today bonus!

Same as.
If I'd had a few drinks, I used to drink a pint of water, last thing before I went to bed. Now I dont bother. I'd usually have to get up around 4 and go to the toilet.. after being awake for ages, wondering if I really had to go or could just fall back asleep soon. Found it to be a worse sleep interrupter than alcohol. Used to do it religiously.. but not any more. Don't think it has a great difference on a hangover since I've stopped doing it. Totally depends what I've been drinking. Mixing drinks is obviously worse for you. Spirits are really the only thing that make me feel spaced out the next day.
2 Btl's of wine & you feel ok this morning? Excellent. I've often drank a single bottle of beer & been like a stroke victim the next day. You can sometimes fall on the right / wrong side of it, can't ya?
My cure would have to be millons of cups of tea & dunno.. something nice to eat at lunchtime / coupled with not doing a whole lot for the entire day haha

I reckon it's the lager that is the culprit. I used to drink premium lager all the time but the hangovers were just to much lol.ICN wrote:Same as.

Don't get me wrong I'm feeling tired today, I'm still in bed lol but I could face the world if I had to haha
The only time I really drink tea is when I'm hanging. Tea ftw the win

Re: Hangovers
I feel you James. I got a MASSIVE hangover today. I was invited to jerkhain kantine by Urbano yesterday as he played a couple of my tracks and wanted to meet me in person and have a chat. Nice young fella by the way.
Now comes the cool part. He was there with his booking agent (pull proxy). She was a nice old (around 50 yrs i guess) techno lady and me and her mate had a good chat. During the chat she told me that she was the main A & R at Tresor in the early years and so she is somehow responsible for a lot of classics and my personal techno socialisation. She had some great storys to tell from Tresor beginnings. We also found out that we know the same persons which were some old promoters which i know from back in the days. Her mate was one half of Receiver Dogs and me and him knows some of the same people as well and we shared the same passion for old english punk bands.
Long story short, you guys can imagine that the old techno lady, mr. Receiver Dog and me got pretty hammered after a couple of hours . Another funny part was that we 3 were the very oldest persons in this room and we earned strange looks from all these hipster faggots .
So this was my first techno night i really enjoyed since ages and it was a very cool experience to hear someone playing your own tracks.
....but the fooking hangover....aaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhaaaaa
(But help is in sight. I will grab me a counter-beer when meet up with my mate later for doing some music for our downbeat/chill-ambient project. Counter-beers always help.)

Never underestimate the power of a decent bacon sandwich to return your fuzzy hungover head back to the world of the living.
On a side note I try not to get too hammered these days, the hangover I can deal with (see above) but in recent years it seams to trigger some sort of weird short term depression with me, worse than any come down I have ever experienced. Totally odd.

Re: Hangovers
Yeah, I've heard other friends say that about the hangover depression SigEnt so you're not alone! I'm normally not too bad with hangovers, feel a bit spacey but rarely get headaches or anything... unless it's been a heavy night in which case it's fully deserved! Often the way when shots get involved... hate that shit! I've found I can't really do my job very well after a night in the pub though even if it wasn't a "big one", it's really hard to concentrate/think logically, so I try and avoid that a bit more these days.

Re: Hangovers
My last hangover was 2 weeks ago. After getting home at lunch time on Saturday I stayed in bed until 19:00, could only manage to get out of bed to take 3 aspirin (that's how I role now, fuck the medical advice)
Usually can't eat either, sometimes can't even deal with water. Have to ride it out for around 6-12 hours of being awake before feeling even remotely normal.
Then even the following day I'd be starving from not eating the day before.
And I hate being sick, can't make myself sick, so I have to suffer.

While you were at it you could've told Pull Proxy to keep pushing those AFFIN label showcases again haha. I effing missed the last one, since it was two weeks after my gig at Tresor last April and the AFFIN nigh was at Tresor as well! (They dont wanna have same acts so close to each-other).Mono-xID wrote:I feel you James. I got a MASSIVE hangover today. Re: Hangovers
The only way for me to get over a hangover is to take an unhealthy amount of ephedrine and caffeine and get on the bike, or hit up the gym.
Married, live in the country, 2 kids - Rock n roll, that's me.
I am hitting up the ADE though, so I'm not all lame

I'm sure you'll have a good one. I got loads of mates out there for it. Wish I was going, but had to prioritise a family hol. Hopefully one day I'll make it there.

I've pretty much suffered from that since I started drinking. Actually led me to giving up the sauce for a few years.
Drink again now, mind you. Don't always get depressed afterwards, either, these days. My hangover cure is an omelette with lots of chili in it. Lots of chili. Habeneros if you can get 'em.
Re: Hangovers
habaneros !
friend of mine got back from mexico a while back, brought me a few bags of chili's,
and 2 little bottles of hot sauce that say "habanero's" on them.
fucking hell that's spicey stuff. just a few drops of that stuff on any dish and you're set.
exactly my taste, I've always loved spicey stuff.

That's crazy, it's makes me feel sick enough when I'm not hungover.Mslwte wrote:going for a run can help alot when you are hanging!
I think my hangovers have got better as I've got older. When I was younger I'd feel like I'd want to throw up for the best part of the day, now it seems to be a headache that's gone by the evening. Still shit, mind.
