Issues with X1's and maschine

Post by Patriek »

I got this annoying problem with my current setup. Let me try to explain :)

I got a macbook (Core i5, 4gig mem and an ssd drive). My soundcard is a Fireface800. As for controlling traktor, i use 2 X1's. To spice things up a bit, i have my Maschine connected also (Virtual Midi)

This used to work perfectly. But lately, i noticed that my 2 X1's reset while i am mixing, this seems to cause an interupt for my virtual midi signal also (Maschine totally loses it sync wise). The 2 X1's just turn off/on again. Traktor doesn't seem to mind it.

I use a powered USB hub. On that, is 1 X1 and Maschine. The other X1 connected directly to my macbook. I tried switching them around to see if that helped, but it didn't.
I turned of wifi and stuff like that. But i am a total MacOS noob :( is there anything i can do to see whats causing the resetting problem?

I've had problems in the past with USB's being starved of power with Mac.. but seeing that you are using a hub.. it should be ok - in theory? lol

Remember back when I had my issues.. with a audio2 or 4 soundcard.. I saw that there was an issue with older MB's and the usb port closest to the screen. Sounds funny.. but have you tried using other ports on the MB just to see?

Apart from the drivers.. dunno. I contacted NI at the time & they kindly sent me an unreleased driver. Didnt fix it for me haha.. but they will help you out if they can.

At the time, my issue was that the USB2 ports on my Mac Pro - although they are USB2.. they dont meet the exact classification with the USB2 standard: The issue being the voltage. Thats what I found out anyway on some random w/site. Trustworthy so! haha. I'm sure anyway that its changed in the meantime as it was a few years ago. Opening a ticket might be the best option.

Perhaps opening a ticket would be best indeed. It's just annoying that it used to work like a charm. I supsect that my 2nd X1 that i bought last, is causing interupt on my USB port(s). Gonna see what happen if i just use one of them :)
