Re: Bandcamp recommendations....
BCR: Berlin Consumer Records are apparently sorting their Bandcamp page currently.
Looking forward to it.

Voidloss, I see you've put out an EP starting as Free as an experiment, hows that going? Are people just taking it for nothing, or actually coughing up decent amounts?simon_marklar wrote:Lost to the Void wrote:Here`s our bandcamp

Well, since I put the entire catalog up for buyer chooses price, downloads shot through the roof. We do have money coming in though, but the proportion of paying to taking is crazy.ashley BORG wrote:

However, I did this for a reason.
All the labels releases were popping up on torrent sites, and I used to chase them down and approach the places telling them that we are a small label not a major and blah blah.
I got fed up with that.
Now those who would steal can just go to our Bandcamp, get decent files and that way at least I control the content, artists are all getting their credit that way, and we get the downloaders email so we can promote to the email list.
The fact is that the music is now getting to a lot more people, so the artists are getting more exposure, which is the entire point of the label.
What funds that are coming in look like they will cover the vinyl production, in fact we are overdue pressing, I just kep delaying it as my own music hasn't been good enough for the first release.

Re: Bandcamp recommendations....
Very interesting. The whole torrent thing sucks, but I think your method of combating it long term works. I still can't fathom how people are comfortable with stealing from others, suppose the whole faceless nature of the internet makes it easy. I think on bandcamp people should give something, at least a pound, I mean they'd probs spend more on McDonalds or a redbull, items which bring less fulfillment and for shorter time.
Well as I said I'll defo be making a few purchases towards my set in a few wks. Some excellent stuff on there and others which have been posted in this thread.

I`ve had a few people download the entire Singularity catalog, all of it, in one go, without donating even a penny. They were from russia and eastern europe, for whatever that means.ashley BORG wrote:Very interesting. The whole torrent thing sucks, but I think your method of combating it long term works. I want the music to be affordable, and I want the music to be out there, it`s why I set up a label and it`s why I release music by other people, I want the artists to get exposure, and I want everything to be professionally presented, well produced, nice artwork, mastering etc. To give a level of credibility.
If people can`t afford to buy the stuff, then I`m cool with them downloading it, that`s fine, if they can afford it then they should give something according to their means, I think that is fair considering how much goes in to each release. Participative capitalism is something I am very much into. Pay what you can afford.
What would be good is if bandcamp had a feedback form on all purchases and downloads, so the purchaser/ripper could at least say thanks, or give some comment of support. I would be fine with that, at least it then shows some kind of appreciation.
In fact , I¬m going to write to them and make a suggestion about that.

Re: Bandcamp recommendations....
Yeah fair enough, good point well made. Defo write that letter to them. I think it's nice that purchasers can leave support feedback, but I'd happily fill out a comment form. I think it would add to the whole "personal" touch of Bandcamp.Lost to the Void wrote:I`ve had a few people download the entire Singularity catalog, all of it, in one go, without donating even a penny. Re: Bandcamp recommendations....
I seem to remember a comment field on at least one bandcamp checkout I did this month.
Effed if I can remember which one though, adding 10 different artists to your cart is a lesson in password copy-paste functionality !

Re: Bandcamp recommendations....
Haha yeah there's still really basic ways in which the functionality and navigation can be improved. Dunno whether it just me, but I can't find an easy way of navigating through those I'm following aside from putting wishlists in place. Otherwise my old method was to create a Bandcamp folder in my bookmarks, and do all the labels individually.oddmyth wrote:I seem to remember a comment field on at least one bandcamp checkout I did this month.

I'm surprised they (or some third party) haven't set up an index page by now.

Re: Bandcamp recommendations....
Hello everybody
I happily paid for the Allan Nonamaka release on Singularity when it went with the pay as you please policy. I already had nearly all the others.
V.. Is the new Siege/CWS SIN going up on Bandcamp anytime soon? Happy to pay for that one too!

Share your favorite Bandcamp pages please
I really want to stop buying music from Beatport and Juno but I don't know of very many good labels on Bandcamp.
Would you guys mind linking me to some good ones? I'm going to bookmark them all into a folder so I can keep track of them all.
Thanks in advance.

opaltapes.bandcamp.com
centralprocessingunit.bandcamp.com
are the two I'm currently listening through.
http://jasonjsnell.com/#9b9/bandcamp
also very highly rated.
These days I always try to buy on Bandcamp first before buying elsewhere.
Pretty sure we have a bandcamp thread on here already, lots of gold in that one.
