Seen him many many times over the years & though I didn't always dig his projects.. I respected how he did his own thing.

In recent times, I liked to grab a mix & see what he was up to. He always appeared to be his own man.

Weatherall is/was kinda electronic music royalty. He has legendary status.
Most importantly he stayed very true to his asthetics.
Too early for this to happen.

56 is no age, what I liked about him was he just did not give a flying, he'd get booked at house and garage clubs in the 90's, because he was Weatherall, and just pound them with techno all night and convert them.

Agreed, witnessed him play so many good sets in the 90's always rocked the the place he would play a really mixed bag but keep everyone moving.

Legend - sorry to see him go.

Sad news. Lots of his music has had so much impact on me. The breadth and depth of his knowledge and taste was pretty astonishing. I only saw him a few times, and each time was entirely different from the others - certainly not one to rest on his laurels. RIP.

Watched a few interviews tonight & listened to some music. Man , he jumped around a lot. Made some serious distance musically.

Really enjoyed this 'self-portrait' short. Hadn't seen it before. Get a generous glimpse of a cool & interesting chap.

What was he like man if you don't mind me asking?

There's a ton of anecdotes on FB now about times he played small gigs for no money and stayed the weekend, did remixes for very little so the artist would get exposure, gave loads of people free studio time and so on.

My favourite is from the 90's and when a now UK techno producer, then a sweaty pilled up teenager, crashed into the decks and brought Sabresonic to a standstill, I think it might of even been H awtin playing at the time. Weatherall grabbed him by the scruff of the neck and marched him through crowd and down the stairs, while all the time this guy apologising profusely and thinking he was on for a kicking. When he finally got to the bottom of the stairs and on the street Weatherall, who'd said nothing up until now, just laughed and said "Don't be sorry, if you can make it back up these stairs I'll let you back in, otherwise get one of these taxis and get home safely"
