Rihanna (yes seriously).
It's a flawless piece of pop.
The production, the vocal processing, the hook, the sound design.
Everything is just tight tight tight.
As a piece of pop music it excells.
And it sounds so fucking good in proper speakers. I played it in the mastering room over and over. It sounds amazing. Made me want to step up my game.
Obviously there's a team behind the production and not just one person, and a lot of money, I mean they have an engineer just for vocal processing.... But hell, the sound...
Yes... Rihanna.... Yes... I know.

I love having ear-candy pop listening sessions on my headphones and good monitors. Merely just to hear what $$$$ production sounds like.Lost to the Void wrote:youtu.be/wfN4PVaOU5Q

Now this isnt Rihanna Pop but not sure if you have heard of Son Lux? - these guys have some seriously amazing tracks from a sonic & composition stand point.
Definitely something to listen to in the mastering room.

I listen to a lot of 80's wave/post punk shizzle when I'm in the mood. So many great musicians in that era and sounds/ideas that paved the way for electronic music of today. I love the grit of it all and the way people were experimenting with cheap as fuck synths, drum pads, samplers, bottles on string

I am struggling to get the Rihanna thing. Mind, having said that, I consider Call Me Maybe to be the perfect pop track.
I've had this on a few times of late....

Yep, it might be the perfect modern pop track. The production is good of course, but the hook, lyrics and arrangement are absolutely out of this world in the context it was designed for.StacieAnne wrote: I consider Call Me Maybe to be the perfect pop track.

I don't really listen to music at all. I know that either puts me at a huge disadvantage or a huge advantage??!!
However to touch on a point about pop music, when I first heard Chandelier by Sia it changed my perception of commercial music.

The whole album is quite nice imo, updated versions of some of his older work, like Leg of time, Oblivion etc. Though there's a couple I'd liked to have seen included, Insect Nation etc.
Also been listening to these guys the past few days, they're kind of all over the place style wise but some deep stuff hidden in there. Liked this album best (up till now) https://soundcloud.com/humanworkshop/se ... 5th-season

Just discovered this awesome greek Fuzz/Psych duo and i absolutely loooooove them. These 3 LP's by them were on constant repeat during my day at work today. Just ordered the vinyls directly at their small greek label.
