Yeah dude, when they rolled the financing I couldn’t not do it. Wanted the desktop, but I can’t find it anywhere for less than $750. Fuck it.

Let us know how it is. Every time I go to pull the trigger, something stops me.
The fan.
Would like to know how noisy it is and how claggy it might get.

The deepmind 12 is fucking awesome. I think it sounds great and when you really dive into the mod matrix/control sequencer you can make some pretty crazy sounds.
The built in FX are great too.

You can hear the fan but its not loud at all, to be honest I dont even notice it.

Would you feel confident taking it out (I`m looking at the desktop version but the body housing is the same), as my hardware is for live. Does it look like you can get in there and clean out the inevitable dust and kack?

The only time I notice the fan on my Deepmind is when I've just turned the thing on. I haven't changed the fan speed from the default setting. It's not an annoying rattling or high pitched wheezing. It fades into the background almost immediately. You can change the speed of the fan to the point where it isn't audible anymore. I don't know whether it will automatically turn on again when the temperature of the machine increases.

Haven't taken the DM apart yet but here are pics online of its guts. Looks like you'll have to unscrew and unplug some of the PCBs to get to all the nooks and crannies. Not all that spectacular https://www.gearslutz.com/board/electro ... st12425679

Will pick it up later after work and I'll have play with it this evening. I'll have to see if I can come up with something interesting.

According to the Sound On Sound review, you can turn the fans off altogether, though the review does mention that the review unit was a pre-production model. Perhaps that's not the case on the production units.

So ProAudioStar called me today and informed me the sold out, so I gotta wait and they're giving me a new one for the same price. I don't want to wait.

I must admit, I`m not terribly interested in this, pretty much guaranteed it will be good, but I`m just not interested in analog drums. Samples and digital weirdness is more for me.

NYX is cool but I can do most of these sounds with the Dominion 1 feed into the Octatrack for additional filtering and a nice Reverb already. So it was a pretty disappointing hunt.

:P :P

Ha ha... Nice one. To my defense have to say I wouldn't have bought Nyx for the full price.

But yeah, you got me he he. I can live with that.

I'm in the same boat, I want a NYX (and an abyss) but waiting to get one used at the right price.
For some really stupid reason I sold my Erebus.

I can barely remember doing it. And definitely can't remember why.
