Please report back on how good it is, the reviews I've read on Gearslutz (yeah, I know ) and KVR have been mixed.

Anyone checked this out yet?

price looks good

Intro price until the 16th. I think, then it's 50? bucks or something.
Re: Shattered Glass Audio 'Inferno' saturation plugin
Just compared with Live 10's saturator.
On my mac it uses about 5% against 1% in Live
Has a more polished top end but does not saturate as much as Live
Each circuit clockwise seems to give a more heavy saturation
Demo goes quiet for a couple seconds here and there
I will pass as it brings nothing new for me. Great at that price though.

Weird comparison. I would hardly call Lives Saturator a saturator at all. It's basically a distortion device.
Whereas with SGA their 1566 saturator for example, you can happily place that over a mix and add some lovely harmonics and a little dynamic squeeze, you wouldnt dream of putting Abletons sat over your 2 buss.

I love Abletons Saturator. I own lots of saturation plugins but I always go back to Abletons. It just adds fuckin' punch to everything.

Turning on the waveshaper is a really fun way to fuck things up! But as far as using something for saturation, then I'm pretty sure I don't do it right. The times, when I've looked over people's shoulders to see how they used saturation tools, it seems to be a very subtle art (and not an art-of-fucking-things-up)Mono-xID wrote:I love Abletons Saturator. Yeah I use it a fair bit too, it's a quite useful distortion device.
It's good to use it just before breakup to feed in to another, more realistic saturator or amp sim, kinda like a crunch boost pedal.
It works nice on electric guitar or bass.
