Re: Elektron Digitone digital polysynthh
I`m kinda interested in this, but since I freed myself from the elektron interface/paradigm I`m not sure I could ever go back in to that illogical world.
Midi in, out and through though, at least one good decision on the back panel.

Why did they choose to shoot the promo video at the garden centre?

Why do you hate the Elektron sequencing method so much Void? I have always been curious about it, and have never tried it. Was just looking for a Yamaha FM tabletop unit, maybe go this way instead...

Re: Elektron Digitone digital polysynthh
It`s just.... Unnatural. Not that intuitive, you have to work to "their" method.
It`s not just the sequencing, it`s the whole way they structure their synths, with parts and so on.
Oh you want to make chords do you? Why? I mean who uses chords? Ahhh aren`t you sweet, yeah have fun with that.....
Button push-arama.
Don`t get me wrong I`ve owned nearly every Elektron device, I adopted Elektron stuff pretty early on, there are some good things about it, "P Locks" being the cliche people like to yap about...
It was only when I started replacing it that I noticed how liberated I was feeling. So I got rid of more and eventually shifted all of it. And now making music on the gear flows much more and I`m pressing a lot less buttons, and when I do press buttons, it`s actually to do something, rather than to get somewhere so that I can do something. The knobs are also.... they just feel unrelated to whatever you are using them to adjust, no different to encoders on a midi controller basically.
To me, using electron gear is far far less intuitive than just using a DAW, and also therefore not as fast, versatile etc
Also, everyone in techno land has the new cliche setup of RTM + Digitact + A4 and I want to avoid the tonal similarities/commonality that brings, but that`s a separate matter. I`ve gotten in to a habit now of changing up my setup every 5 years or so, to keep things fresh.
Saying that, it`s still great gear, like anything it has it`s foibles and fun times.
I`m just done with it, 10 years was enough for me.

Saw this...I'm intrigued, as I could use an FM/subtractive hybrid. I feel like Elektron is a rabbit hole, though...I'm scared of diving in
Re: Elektron Digitone digital polysynthh
I've an md and just treat as a toy that I trick about on for an hour. It's fun to abuse the fuck out of for an hour but in the end I'll just turn it off again ..

Hmm I'm close to getting an octatrack. You know my affiliation with the MD. I feel like its the logical step for me to get into the live performance mojo.Lost to the Void wrote:It`s just.... Unnatural. Not that intuitive, you have to work to "their" method.

I think it could also serve well as a remix and production tool aswell. Dunno what else is out there
To sample live apart from the akai live and I'm not sure about the flow with that screen.

I'm getting a bit pissed off with all of these new releases as it goes. Every year more new stuff, mostly doing the same thing etc. There isn't much limitation in hardware any more. I'm looking for the quirky stuff myself.

The Lyra 8 being a recent example.
Waldorf Quantum looks pretty nuts and next level.

Fuck you Dirk Diggler! All your tracks cut me up. Deadly shit. Proper checks out. Fasta fasta! ..Mslwte wrote:I'm the same except it ends up as a track.intrusav wrote:I've an md and just treat as a toy that I trick about on for an hour. Re: Elektron Digitone digital polysynthh
I dunno. Maybe we should restrict techno to 140 min and see what comes of it. Keep up! The joy of it is evaporating and getting milked.. 16th's everything...fuck off with the 101..bluffery...
Your tracks are solid. Have listened, have been lifted by it, all good ..

Re: Elektron Digitone digital polysynthh
Yeah, I'm pretty tempted by it, but Dreadbox have a new synth coming may, and I want to see what it is, I think it's gonna be a doozy.
Re: Elektron Digitone digital polysynthh
The Lyra 8 is probably the most interesting thing I've seen recently as well, just not sure it's what I need to be spending my money at the moment.

Re: Elektron Digitone digital polysynthh
I really like the Elektron way of sequencing. Granted, I've never used Cirklon and other such devices, but from all the gear I've ever owned Elektron gear has the best sequencers. Really fast to get simple ideas down and with the p-locks, microtiming, different pattern length for each track etc they can make more compled patterns as well.

We live in a golden age of synths, there's never been this much out there for such an accessible price.Mslwte wrote:I'm getting a bit pissed off with all of these new releases as it goes. And then I've not even getting started about all the innovations eurorack brings to the electronic musicians in the last couple of years.
Re: Elektron Digitone digital polysynthh
Yeah I understand this, and agree to a certain point. But the consumerism aspect has been ramped up in recent years.Alume wrote:We live in a golden age of synths, there's never been this much out there for such an accessible price.Mslwte wrote:I'm getting a bit pissed off with all of these new releases as it goes. The hardware innovations in eurorack have definitely moved forward, but has the music? (Don't get me wrong, I'm interested in utilising modular as audio effect and am looking at DIY kits etc)
P.s I was in a grumpy mood yesterday haha.
