because when you're a mac slave,
a mac pro is like even 1000€ more expensive than any MBP.
Steve Job is probably still laughing in his grave  But as Void mentioned Hackintosh work, used to use them at an video editing job I had. More power, way less money, much more hassle to set up
but when you get them up and running they are good.

I see well that's life I guess, you win some you loose some but at least you'll live to fight another day.

My 2 cents: they are expensive as fuck as new machines, but when you work all in the box, you really do appreciate the power of a 4 core 15 inch MBP.

I worked on a 2,7 GHZ 13 inch MBP for a year of intense production and had it maxed out all the time, forcing me to raise the buffer size etc.

Then one year ago, i got a second hand 15 inch MBP (2,6 GHZ, 1 TB SSD, 2013) for 1500 €. Still a lot of money due to the huge SSD but way better than a new machine with similar specs for 3.000 - 3500 €.

I'd never want to go back. I can throw pretty much anything at it and it's rock solid. Had i unlimited money i'd enjoy the more lightweight shiny, touchbar-y gimmicks of the latest series of MBP's, but in terms of processing power a couple years old machine will do almost the same.

IT was the polyphony that attracted me, but like everything Roland, they always make stupid decisions.

The working surface has a 5th of it taken up with those stupid fucking ribbon sliders, when they could have spaced out controls or upsized them.

Roland has become a headless chicken of a company.

It seems they employ this guy to ruin every decent decision with a bit of wildcard madness.
