Where do you produce for?

Post by StandardModel »

Home listening or the club?
For me I'm still trying to find the middle ground. When I'm out, I'm fascinated by certain sounds that seem to be transformed by the loud volume and the distortion it brings, and always seem a little disappointed when I hear my stuff out.

I went to a great night in Sheffield on Sunday night and saw Redshape, Slam and Mike Dehnert, and had some real moments of clarity during Slam and Dehnerts sets (I think)

What are your guys thoughts on this?

for nuclear power stations, mental hospitals, hyperspace and so forth:)

techno works on the dancefloor, so i don't give it any real thought. i think that comes naturally. i am more concerned with the mood and texture of the music

I produce for myself, any other motivation, to me, deviates intent as you try to please some expectations outside of your own.

I produce for my mum. If she likes it, I get a biscuit :)

Na just me. Music has always just been a out my own entertainment that I like to share with other people. I've also only ever dj'd for myself. Probably the reason why I never made it as a dj.

I think djing and mixing are 2 totally different things

You dj for other people and make music for yourself hoping other people play it - probably why i very very rarely play my own tunes in my podcasts

I suppose all the different environments and sound systems I've encountered have an influence in some way. I'm not sure that I envision anywhere specific when I'm making a track though. Maybe I should.

When i started producing again after a long break, i set myself a goal to work towards to. For some of you this might be peanuts but for me releasing a track would be one of my dreams come true. It's what keeps me going.

The other reason i produce is, if i dont, my head will probably explode :D

There aint such thing as free titties! you need to invest time or money (sadly enough). haha no just joking man.

most of the time my music is kind of fucking up my game with the ladies. they often think: what is this for dark material? still searching for a girl that is able to appreciate some drugs and proper techno
