song arrangement
If you have ever created an amazing loop but find it difficult to turn it into a finished full track, this article has some cool ideas on arrangement.

Re: song arrangement
Glad you found it useful mate
Re: song arrangement
Very useful, but keep in mind that your focus is on how the track evolves for you ears, not visually. I often made this mistake. Then i thought: "yep, and here we get a break, here another one, here its going to bang.." This often resulted in bad transitions. Totally forgot to look whether it sounded and felt good.
Re: song arrangement
also another major point for me, is referencing. Find the tunes that you really like, and see how it is they keep your interest. Resonators, spot delays, reverb gates on percussion, cliched methods (the horrendous pitch rise) made non cliche etc etc
If done properly, these changes should be almost too subtle to notice, in my opinion.

yeah man
Its funny when you preview a track on SC / beatport or wherever.. and it sounds pretty much the same all the way through. If its got a good groove, they're usually the ones I'll go back to listen to in their entirety as they're full of that subtle epicness.

Re: song arrangement
Good points, I used to get into bad habits of arranging visually rather than shutting your eyes and listening properly to the smaller but essential elements within the track. I usually end up with about 10 different rendered wavs of a track that I listen to in itunes and almost always find things that could be done better that I didnt pick up listening back in Ableton

To me that's the mark of a real producer. for a not so subtle amount of subtle

Even though I wouldnt necessarily play this tune. I can listen to it over and over.
