I JUST realized yesterday that in Live there is a thing called clip modulation that you can automate

I just realized yesterday that 1-5% of wet delay with low feedback on a hihat really can add fluidity and swing to it. And I was always pulling my air programming swing, trying to get that feel!

I also only realized a few weeks ago how powerful multitap delays are for a nice stereo image.

I only realized in the last week how amazing and powerful the morph EQ is in Filterscape.

Just realised how much "track delay" in ableton adds to the swing and groove of your tracks when dialing little values on drums !

I've only just started using the satson settings (around the back) properly. Had the plug for years lol.

It's very annoying that you can only draw it in though.. why can't you play it in with knobs or LFO it?

Yeah I just draw in. It would be great if you could automate. Should be able to automate any parameter really.

Two things I only started doing recently that really help me get where I want:
1. bus compressing groups for glue and firmness
2. compressing/distorting master aux reverb and sometimes delay to make it sound less flabby compared to everything else

Make sure to turn off sync on the delay timing and look for the sweet spot. It works much better for the groove that way.

Mid frequencies are my enemy...

The more ive started to scoop out mids, the more my mixes start to sound how i want them to.

Same here. It's a simple thing that I had forgot to do. Names all the difference. Especially at 400hz.

I, too, found out recently that cutting in this area removes a lot of mudiness !

remove all sustain & a bit of attack of multiband processing of your kick for both high & mid bands --> this cleans up a lot of frequencies which can be filled with the leads/pads/vocals/ ...

Wouldn't it be an easier solution to just use two layered (bottom/top) samples? You also get more control that way and no multiband processing side effects.

I'm pretty sure you can record clip automation. There's a session automation button I think you need to press first.

Yeah but then if you do arrangement automation, it overrides the session automation. Say you do LFO-like rhythmic automation in session but then you want the parameter value to increase during the end of the track. It's a pain in the ass to do that with only automation. Whereas you can have modulation and automation running in parallel without them overwriting each other.

But you can record into session view right, which is what I was responding to? ;)

I don't use clip automation too much so I didn't really realise it was override only. I can see why you'd want to have the 2 different types of automation co-existing, but to me it sounds like a ui nightmare and I can imagine why they don't support it. I'm on the side of the fence where I prefer everything to be explicit and there in front of me, having the arrangement automation being affected by something I can't easily see would wind me up.

I hope they add it in though as an optional thing for those that want it.

Oh, I record into session view plenty, I was just complaining about it not working with Modulation :)

I don't think it would be an UI nightmare since the modulation UI already exists. All I want is to have more input options to record it. They could just make it so the record session button also works for modulation when you are in an modulation window.

The other problem is that the Max LFO device disables automation. If I could assign LFOs to the modulation lane, it would solve that problem aswell.

I just really hate drawing stuff in, it takes forever. I was hoping for improvements with Live 10 here but nothing. Given how ridiculous Bitwigs modulation system supposedly is, I thought they'd make some improvements here at least.
