nOOb question _ Note length in Simpler

Just can't seem to get this to work today..

How do you get this going in Simpler? So that a hihat plays at 1/16 - then extended notes, say 1/8's play longer.

Usually I just dick around with the ADSR & it seems to work, but I can't for the life of me get it going. Would gratefully appreciate some helpz

Sustain plays the sound while the note is down, so set that to max and then it sustains for any length of note. Obviously you'll need to set an appropriate attack/decay/release.

Not sure i fully understand, but if you set attack to minimum, sus to max, decay to min, then note length in piano roll will control sample play length

You could also drop a note length midi effect as well and just set the length you want. Also you can set up multiple set to diff lengths and then you can just turn them on and off as needed or control them with envelopes.

ah is this something to do with the trigger mode? (ie treating samples as 'one shot' etc)

couldn't for the life of me find that parameter in simpler a week or so ago.

i usually work in sampler - i think you have to make sure "loop" is set to "none" (not "trigger")

Yeah.. It was a case of doing it usually without thinking & simply forgetting. I never really thought about what it was that makes this happen. Anyway.. its sorted now, so cheers.

Midi tools - Yes.. must investigate the Note Length plug.

Sampler / Simpler. Never really use Sampler.. probably should.

There are so many modulation options with sampler...
and yes explore midi plugins they are tits...
