Here is mine :

Thanks for this, I had actually no clue I could get this sound with so little to work with. I really learn something. Need to stop seeking new sound sources (understand new synths!) and start to work with what I have.

Only a year and a half late to this, never mind! It's a shame most of the previous entries are now unavailable.

Here's my attempt anyway, it was fun to do and definitely eye opening in terms of getting the most out of source material:

I don't think the embedded player works with a private track, so follow the link.

I used 5 channels and 10 effects.

Hi folks !

Here is my attempt. Really tried to be creative on this one.
Toms were used mainly as synth thanks to resonator and frenquency shifter.
I used the kick drum as a sub bass.
Hi hat sample was turned into 3 different hi hats.

Lots of insert effects of course. Cannot really remember all the things I used :D

Have a Glance !

Thanks sir !

I just noticed i didn't really read the rules established by mattias  on the 1st page.
There are 3 hh built on one sample so I guess i'm outlaw :D.

Yes but the idea of the comp is to force a limitation on yourself (which you gave still done) a create something interesting.

There's no rule to say you can't build on that afterwards and complete a full track :D

Giving this one a little bump as we have a lot of new members recently. This topic is a bit of a Subsekt classic and is a great way to challenge yourself.

Maybe some of us old timers could have another crack at it? See how we've progressed over the years...

Yep me too - I like the concept. Using ableton lite for a while limited to only 8 tracks forced me to think in this kind of way. Obvs this is more extreme contraints!

Good call.

I think I'm gonna give this another go over the weekend.

still not sure after reading 8 pages into the thread how to interpret the rules. I mean, with all the possibilities in a DAW, resampling or racks in Live for instance, what does 'only use sound twice max' mean?
I'll have a go at it next week! Maybe a few versions, with varying degrees of 'rigidness' regarding the rules, maybe adding also a time constraint (1 or 2 creative hours, 15 minutes to fix the mix).

Break the rules and the Subsekt police will fuck your shit up :D

Intepret it how you want, as long as you limit yourself roughly within the set parameters. For example, I never counted sticking a limiter on my end result, etc.

looking to get involved in this - quick question - am I being an idiot with the soundcloud players/examples of others not working/not being embedded in the forum?

It's an old thread, a lot of us have deleted our efforts, but you should definitely give this challenge a go. This forum doesn't embed private SC links, either, you'll see them a lot in the hole.
