I don't know.. was the MEK the start of the new DSI synths.. Mopho & all of those?

I guess they've built their gateway gear.. got more $$$ for R&D and now they have their minds focused on other stuff. Possibly the OG Evolver was always leading up to the Poly. They have a game plan with all these versions that they do.

Anyway.. they can still be picked up for a reduced price if the original encoders are fucked. The PE upgrade completely replaces the boards. You get a new synth.. so the issue of wear & tear is not really an issue.

Yes, I love it :D.
I've posted this in another topic and I'm going to repeat it to add info to this topic.
Buy the keys version with the potmeter upgrade.
The desktop version is able to make the same sounds (I've had it in the past) but the interface is just a bottleneck for a synth with all these parameters.
The small display on the desktop version isn't very helpfull as wel; it's all a bit cryptically.
I find this a very good monosynth with lots of modulation possibilities and the onboard sequencer (4 tracks) is really usefull.

One thing I should mention is that the encoders on the desktop version are from another batch then the encoders on the keys version.
I've never heard of serious encoder problems on the desktop version.

I got the desktop last year, but have barely scratched the surface of it. This thing is DEEP.

I've read some people just use it as an fx processor and barely touch the synth.
