Generic Airwindows plugin thread / tips, recommendations etc
I recently got the full set of them and it's quite an amount! Over 300 plugins, often with cryptic names and not so obvious uses.
Any tips for particularly good ones, or clever ways to use them?
I've been mostly using:
Weight, for beefing up kicks with not enough subs. Very easy to use too much of it though!
Density
ToTape6 (though I recently got the UAD Spark pack, and now I'm using it's Studer emulation on everything instead)
Mackity, when I need some 90's house type of overdrive
Mojo, not sure what it does but occasionally sounds nice!

Desk4 for it's power sag feature. Don't know what it does, but it breaks up low-end in interesting ways.Fun to use on stems.

Airwindows has had a good few mentions over the years. You'll find some recommendations here

I have a downloaded the large pack in the past, not sure if it has been updated since. Too many to go through though!! The one i wanted was mackity. Have destroyed many sounds with that.

Vibrato is killer, does crazy fm sounds as an effect.

Try using the channel, on every channel. It is similar to what a lot of guys here say about Harrison mixbus. Subtle but seems to open up the mix a little while also gluing it together.
Re: Generic Airwindows plugin thread / tips, recommendations etc
Will be checking these out, I only ever use Density, but on like, umm, every channel

I know there are a lot of good plugins, but the interface IS important. That's why people go DAWless right?
I just can`t get with Airwindows, it feels like using spreadsheet software.

Harrison mixbus is garbage, it has been objectively proven to be just generic digital, with zero mojo being injected, no harmonics etc.
So, not a good example.

Iridium probably meant Satson...

Re: Generic Airwindows plugin thread / tips, recommendations etc
just tried out density on the recommendation from this thread, it sounds great. Very volatile, though. I personally really like channel 9 and I played around with one of his console plugins for a while but started to feel it was complicating things too much (you have to have every channel at unity gain for it to work correctly) and it definitely had a noticeable effect but I found it smeared things too much for my taste. Well-made, though
Re: Generic Airwindows plugin thread / tips, recommendations etc
purest fade is a utility plug in but I find myself using it fairly often

Try this instead for what mixbus would be intended for, but you need to know what you are doing with the even and odd harmonics for best results. https://www.fieldingdsp.com/reviverLost to the Void wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 5:47 pmHarrison mixbus is garbage, it has been objectively proven to be just generic digital, with zero mojo being injected, no harmonics etc.

Forgot to mention the all-time classic, Mackity. I use it all the time. Great on a drum buss.
Re: Generic Airwindows plugin thread / tips, recommendations etc
Density is good.
Melt is good in moderation.
Voiceofthestarship here and there in the background.
Subsonly can be handy. it's only really a lowpass but if you are feeling bored you can put it on a drum break and it will give you a bass line/rumble type thing/ groove. It is also shelved in a way that the real low lows are tame.
Half the time i can't remember what they all do because of the naming.

Oh I have that, I`ve not used it for years.quest wrote: ↑Sat Jun 03, 2023 3:01 amTry this instead for what mixbus would be intended for, but you need to know what you are doing with the even and odd harmonics for best results. https://www.fieldingdsp.com/reviverLost to the Void wrote: ↑Thu May 11, 2023 5:47 pmHarrison mixbus is garbage, it has been objectively proven to be just generic digital, with zero mojo being injected, no harmonics etc.

Never really liked it. The vst version of Twintube kinda does the same, although there is only one dial for harmonics that multiply, with the saturation effect separate.
It is a very clean way of adding harmonics, but it has zero mojo, it`s very clinical and static, so I abandoned it. IT would probably be good for mastering but I have alternatives that just give me more..... Joy.
Re: Generic Airwindows plugin thread / tips, recommendations etc
So for tips and tricks, I could use some tips and tricks on how to open this up
I downloaded one called signed m1/intel Mac AUs .dmg (which I assume is the right one). Now I have a folder full of .component files, which I have no clue what to do with.
...did I mention I work in IT?

Turns out you just have to copy them to the right folder
