I have been tweaking with operator for quiet sometime to aquire those sharp FM notes with no luck. I was thinking it could be either the pitch envelope or glide giving the notes the movement but any ideas to gain lazer-esk quality would be greatly appreciated.

Any basssynth, moderate distortion, a roomy verb, slide notes / portamento and a melody stretching over a few octaves very sharply.
