DJ EQ VST?

Post by kirkwoodwest »

Sub subsektors... i'm looking for a legit dj eq vst.
Don't really like the sound of EQ-3. Not interested in a max4live thing. Ideally crossplatform but OSX for sure, either VST/AU. Need something reliable and low cpu. Help. plzz :D

Hmm, why can't you just use any EQ basically? Most DJ mixers have fairly basic EQ's, just hi/mid/lo control and they sound nothing special, except on some high end mixers.

What are you trying to achieve?

I’ve experimented with creating my own macros with eq-8 and while that is cool it’s hard to get it to react like a real mixer would. The curve response of the knob doesn’t feel very smooth like my A&H92. Or a pioneer DJM.

Maybe I need to use one of the m4live things to get the curve response on the potentiometer just perfect. But also don’t want to waste any cpu cycles on MaxScript, especially something so simple like an EQ!

Eq-3 just doesn’t sound right I can’t explain. Something happens during the movement of the fader and also just makes things sound weak when doing deeper cuts.

Would love to have an emu of those freq isolators on the vestax.

Another thing is the slew response from a controller. VOS seems to take a couple frames to smooth out the response and it doesn’t dig any deeper than -18db.

Traktor has a descent EQ. If only they made a plugin of that channel.

Maybe I just need to program one...

Just got a mail Air creative fc collection is 33% off with 'AIRFX' as your code.
There's a kill EQ in the bundle, along with other stuff. Haven't used these, bit like their Loom synth for grainy pads.

yeah, Code 49 for the win! Need to get my head around Loom. At the moment it's more "let's see what happens"... Lovely textures!
Hybrid is ok, but there are better bread and butter (subtractive) synths, or at least, I'm used to others. Loom is quite unique, though.

I was using this one for some time
https://www.gearslutz.com/board/music-c ... ac-au.html
its not "3band vst eq" its more like "dj mixer / channel strip + 3 eq vst"

*this one is intended to be used for "djing"

Haven't tried it yet, but Ableton 10.1 comes with a new Channel EQ device.

Was about to try the demo and its like a download is 1 gig... and then a complete 2 gig install for 20 effects! seems very inefficient and suspicious... debating to continue forward with my test

Dang only 99 рублей for 1 день what a steal

Seriously though, I’ve found myself needing them same thing in Ableton, I want 4 knob A&H style with two mids to wire to my Livid Ohm for performance. If the 10.1 channel EQ isn’t up to the task I’m down to join forces programming a nice plugin that does this one thing really well, shouldn’t be hard so could probably give away for free or like 1$

Cool what’s your programming background? Any experience coding plugins, say with C++ and JUCE?

I think front end will be a piece of cake so I’m gonna read up on the best digital algorithms to get that nice sounding filter for the EQ bands. If we have fixed Q and fixed freq bands it shouldn’t be too hard on back end either
