Sure he says there's all kinds of useless different waveforms, but the only important thing I thought was : does it have both square and saw EXACTLY like on the real 303 ?
You can't imagine how different those waveforms sound, and it would be typically Roland to not include both but instead include some samples of a stomach digesting mititei made from donkey foreskins.
Yeah it does. It's on the Sonicstate review. I think the first 2 presets are the original saw and square waves. Then it goes off into various other distorted versions of the same thing. That said, a stomach digesting mititei made from donkey foreskins waveform could be interesting. Not something you come across everyday
Thank you for the laughs, debate, new music found, production tips etc etc over the years. I wish Subsekt and everyone all the best for the future. Wiu.

The kick has a weird click, snare's got more "metal to it" hihats are softer than I remember them sounding etc... TBH I'm more interested in the other kits they've got there.

Didn't like the way it sounded in that video,

Point Blank did videos for all of them, and I liked the sounds a lot more.

Looks fun to fuck around on.

It actually seems fairly faithful, sound wise, if that is your bag.

I wonder if that USB connection and separate outs would let it fit into a drum rack in Ableton that you could control with push like normal, but with hardware controls for all the sounds and effects. That would be amazingly cool as a foundation in the bottom of a drum rack to build tracks with, then you could stick extra samples into other slots as and when you needed them.

I actually don't think you will get all that many go up second hand within months. I'd bet you're more likely to get a load of MFB 503 & 522's, Novation Drum Stations and other clones being sold to fund or make room for the TR-8. Just my guess.

I think the 303 scream's quite well from what I've heard so far. But it's a bit like an iPad app in a box

That sonic state preview seems much more reliable than the point blank one, at least he was willing to be critical.

In fairness the TR8 looks fairly decent.

As a bit of live kit. It looks surprisingly useful I think.
Other than that..........

For roland i think this is shockingly half decent.

Forgetting the sounds and just looking at this thing as a sequencer/ controller for other gear could potentially offer quite good value for money if the build quality is there. I think the interface is decent it has some good things going for it. If its knobs and faders are midi assignable. It does midi so that is a good sign.

I will add that in a couple years these will be great buys used. $300 for a virtual analog synth thats a pretty good deal no matter how you cut it.
