Kick Drum Advise!

Hi,

I know this question has been asked a thousand times, so sorry for asking it again.
But has anyone got any tips on how to achieve a weighty kick?

Something like this is what I'm after:

I know the basics of layering, EQ'ing and compression, but I can never get it to sound right - either too bassy, or too clicky, or both.

Any tips would be ace.

The rest of the track makes the kick.

The expression of the kick is merely the result of (dis)balance between the other elements. How they communicate in the frequency spectrum, together with the volume levels and the push and pull of the whole multisequence makes they kick sound the way it sounds.

Without wanting to sound snarky, it sounds like you don't have the basics down.
With good eq and compression, not even layers, you should be able to get exactly the kick you are looking for.
There is a thread on this forum about kick compression, have a read.

Yup this is a super basic kick foundation. Read and research more while experimenting and you will nail this easy fella!
