Re: The exercise thread!
Here's a great challenge - incremental build yourself up to being able to do 100 push ups.

I've never achieved it, always gave up at like week 3 of 8 - but I'm sure it's great if your not such a lazy cunt as I and can follow it through!

Using VSTs with a hardware workflow...
I'm sure this is nothing groundbreaking to many. For me it was a bit of a revelation! I'm doing a collab project with a very experienced producer at the moment. He uses a hardware synths/drum machines/hardware processing/desk/DAW set up. So his workflow is record a track e.g. synth line live for 64 ...

Re: So yes, this topic has been made now.
Is it that mainstream media is trying to control us? Or is it that the individuals and teams of people working within the mainstreams media companies are a clever bunch and they know exactly what the majority of people in society want. They know that a lot of people actually feed off negativity and ...

Cynicism, indifference, disbelief in the power of the individual are all things I honestly feel all the time - but I try to fight it because I also study and practice Buddhism which teaches absolutely otherwise. I don't want to preach - tell me if I am pls! - but reading this kind of thread I do wan...

Re: Who/what's the biggest influence to your taste in music
There`s no fiction to it. I would never cover the rough with the smooth, something that has such a place in my heart I would never disservice with anything but the whole truth, warts and all. Weirdly enough Tech phoned me right after I wrote up that last big post, and I said I had been talking abou...

Yeah ,Tribe of Munt were Johnny come lately trustafarians, don`t count them as part of real london scene. Definitely after the hay day, they did good do`s, but they were just rich kids coming in to something already formed, they were sorta 2002 onwards-ish. They didn't earn their stripes in my opin...

Synthesis - make some new sounds.
Using seqeuencers for making patterns rather than keys/piano roll.
Recording audio instead of clicking in software.
Guitar pedals/external effects.
These things help me anyway when I'm looking to start something and lost a fresh approach.

Reading names like Manik reminds me old parties haha, and all the stories about that soundsystem and others... For sure some of those places weren't safe at all. Some crazy stuff went down. Did you got to the one in the old post office headquarters in centre of London? Can't remember where exactly ...

Re: Who/what's the biggest influence to your taste in music
That`s really hard to pin down. Person 1: My old friend Smiley Steve (RIP), was a lovely guy I met via some east german girls who I used to party with at the world famous Goth/Industrial Club Slimelight. We all used to go to big Psy parties as well, Return to the source, Pendragon, Astral Phoenix, ...

Yep me too - I like the concept. Using ableton lite for a while limited to only 8 tracks forced me to think in this kind of way. Obvs this is more extreme contraints!

Re: Do you still like the same music you liked as a teenager
Hmmm good questions! Yes and no. In terms of bands - yes. I am really into an eclectic mix of some great bands and other not "cool" stuff but music I just love because of a time and place in my life - the smiths for example, Can, Yellow Magic Orchestra - and then certain songs I just still love and ...

Re: Ableton 9.5 & Push 2
I have been a Push1 owner for quite some time and I ordered the Push 2 straight away. I received it directly from Ableton a few days ago. First impressions; I had some issues getting it to work under Windows 10. Windows wouldn't recognize it as a USB device. After power off/on, reboots etc finally ...

Never works out for me - if it's not something currently working reworking or salvaging old track material never works out. Just start something new I say!
