Re: Long time no see

r6TsxDGtMpA wait wait wait 300 hours?! I just got to think about how many hours I work a month (I work full time) - it is less than half of 300 hours! Glad you said stop - that is a dangerous work load! The tipping point was when 2 of my cooks were away for two weeks, I was there 9am-11pm/01am on w...

Re: Long time no see

300hrs sounds dead though, what work was that? Head chef. And that's not even that bad for that role. Fuck that bs. Anyway.. it's good to be busy. We always find something to complain about regardless 👍👍 I love being busy. I hate being bored. I hate being busy with a job where you make a shitload o...

Long time no see

What's up guys? Haven't been here for too long. The new job I got sucked ass big time. Completely devoured me and gave shit back. 300h months average. I fucked them off, moved back to my old job where there's almost nothing to do and started learning to code. Applied for an online school and waiting...

Re: Social Media as a required tool in Dance Music

I just hope this bs doesn't drive off the artists who actually love the music. A freind told me today sleeparchive is doing just that. Continue against the grain. Keep the music alive. Fuck fame. Fuck the bs. Roger (Sleeparchive) is a cool dude. I once had a cool night at the Tresor bar with him an...

Re: Promo agency

Thanks all for the kind words! Nah, my background into this was grew up listening to trance (don't shoot me) and techno from the likes of Mark EG etc playing at my local club, that I used to go to when I was 16 and never ID'd me. Was spoiled for choice. Got into making lots of music but also writin...

Re: Let's discuss live performing

The colour coding is a great idea. Indeed. It saved me, we were just starting to try out the transitions and we got to like track 5 or 6 and I was like how the fuck am I gonna memorise track 3 transition channels are bd ch oh and rc, track 9 is lt mt hc etc etc and recall all that at the gig?! Oh w...

Re: Let's discuss live performing

Hi 0dd, how did your gig go? Hope it was a success. I have been having problems finding a good way to transition between different patterns on the TR-8S. Simiar to what you mentioned earlier in the thread. Did you make a recording of your set? I'd be really interested to hear it... It was completel...

Re: Let's discuss live performing

Well the channel rolls in it's own time through the 8 variations, but when you change patterns they switch when the full pattern resolves, so yeah when switching songs it has the same problem. Really messes up the groove so I didn't make any transition on poly elements. @wolf: get the tr8s. Especial...

Re: Let's discuss live performing

Yeah rehearsing right now, 16 tracks for 2h is 7.5min per track. Way too much for playing around with one bar. I tend to work in a framework where I give 3-4 minutes per track. Sometimes less for tracks that are just a groove. It means you need a shed load of material for a 2 hour set though. It's ...

Re: Let's discuss live performing

Yes, 180sec per sample, 300sec stereo or 600 sec mono sample max. Although if say you have 1 bar patterns as I do for tommorow, only 1 bar of the sample is looped. So say I have a 7 bar loop sample, I also need a 7 bar sequence for it to play out. Which is ok I guess, but I made 1 bar variations to ...

Re: Let's discuss live performing

Going back to the op and going back to Steve's old advice; don't start with the all-powerful setup. Start simple and add stuff every iteration if you feel you can handle it. I'm starting with just the tr8s. It will probably be a bit minimal but hey, it's a start that I can handle. Next time I'll pro...

Sounds familiar doesn't it? Well at least they are not fucking kids (as far as I know), which is a pretty low bar. That's how I assess the performance of politicians now. Vote for me! 'Why?' Re: Let's discuss live performing

With regards to flow. I finished making patterns (tracks) for my first gig yesterday, I made one bank of 16, and from each one to the next I kept 3-5 tracks and sequences the same and color coded them so as not to memorise each transition. Sounds ok when tried home. We'll see how it goes on Saturday.
