Re: Subsekt's favourite sample libraries....

I was fortunate enough to inherit over tens years worth of FM/CM and MT mags years ago, along with all the samples from there. Majority I wouldn't even consider using, but there are a few which sound ultra retro and have a nice bit of character to them.

Re: Formal Music/Music Tech Education

I'm thinking about doing a MA in music with the open university as I'm getting more into contemporary orchestral stuff and I feel I really need to work at my theory more. Listening to orchestral pieces is the one thing that has remained constant in my life as a listener of music...There's something...

Re: Formal Music/Music Tech Education

One of my only regrets in life is that I was guided by my parents after school & didn't get to go on a sound engineering course. That's what you're talking about, right? Me? Lol Thanks for depressing me Tim My parents always said music should be a hobby....One that has consumed my life and moved me...

Re: Playing with Vinyls

The best thing I ever did was learn how to mix on vinyl. It gives you more skills as it relies on your hearing to correctly beatmatch. Not only that, you then have to make sure you're at the correct bar as well as how to compensate in case that goes tits up! It should be a fundamental requirement to...

Kill List. Not necessarily the scariest of films. However, I think you'll appreciate the sound design and music!

Re: "hipster techno" really?

Only a handle of occasions has a crowd made the club/night. I leave the crowd loving for tech house nights. I'm definitely with you for the intimate and smaller clubs though...Best night I've probably been to was with Ancient Methods playing in Horst to about 30 people. He just didn't care less and...

Formal Music/Music Tech Education

Is there anyone else who went through the grades/GCSE/A Levels (and higher) in music/music tech education system? How were your experiences? Do you think it's helped you become a better producer? I think as a musician you're in built with the curse of constantly seeking perfection with every track, ...

Re: Big Subbass in deep techno?

Yeah.. I think I know what you mean about the bassline thing. When I do bounce kicks with stuff in them, they usually have a bit of a reverb rumble, or slight MS delay etc.. in them, so that they're groovin' I normally just use reverb and sample selection for the sub in tracks...I like it more than...

I couldn't care less if someone wears chinos, short shorts and socks, a space suit or nothing but a moustache. I know the reason why I go to a club, and it isn't for the fucking crowd. I do understand where you're coming from, but I think we've all known clubs where the crowd as totally made the pl...

Re: Ableton 9 – How are you getting on? [ Recycled Thread]

Been having a bit of fun. Only thing I hate is the one click node on automation line. Was in utter hatred of it during the first few days when I couldn't get my Maschine to control the UI (...basically how I perform). I actually really enjoy using the EQ8 now too. Had a few AUs not showing up though...
