Re: What hardware synth???
I am in a similar boat. I used to own an Arturia Minibrute, but ended up selling it, because although I could get some interesting sounds out of it, I was someone who would prefer a polyphonic synth. So, the next synthesizer purchase that I make will most likely be the Korg Minilogue. Or, if you fee...

Re: What Techno Producers are ITB only?
Recondite is 100% ITB (except his acid stuff, uses a 303 clone). Not only that, mainly Ableton plugins. Abdulla Rashim is also mostly ITB, although his initial sound sources are sometimes from hardware, all the processing he does for his sound is Ableton stuff.

There's a really good SampleMagic pack called "Berlin Techno", actually has some great sounds in it.

Re: FabFilter Pro-Q 2 - Experiences??
Yeah, it's fucking excellent actually. Get some really precise things done with it, especially good for taming resonances (and pretty much everything else). Has a couple of cool features (sidechaining audio to see where other waveforms interact), and is generally straightforward to use.

Re: Mastering that leaves headroom
I got some masters back from dubplates & mastering the other day, and they left 1.5db headroom. In the text, they said that because streaming services auto-normaliz tracks, it's better to leave headroom. Anyone have any experience with this? Seems a bit excessive? However, they are up there amongst...

Re: Short Production Tips & Tricks
Great topic, never checked it before. I didn't read everything yet but if i can add a quick tip : try to open pictures, files, anything with a sound editor. This way you obtain raw noises sometimes very interesting to play with or to edit. I did this a lot when i started making music a while back, ...

Re: This mix, explain please?!
A few people here need to get off of their high horses here. Fuck creativity and doing something innovative, right? Who cares if it sounds different, that's the point. Obviously XL thought there was something of merit to release this, and I'm pretty sure they have a good idea of what is/isn't good m...
