Re: The worst bit of kit you ever bought?
I bought a mpc one 9 months ago. the inital reason for that was to have a tight sequencer and clock. And while the mpc platform really can do a lot and it can do this really well the midiclock is terrible. I measured with an oscilloscope and there is lots of jitter. Pulling the midi clock now off th...

Hardware reverb for drums
Hi, I am wondering if there is any affodable reverb for drums. I need a short verb that I can setup once and leave it like that, just to give the durms a bit of space. For snare / clap I might use some other algorithms. I got the tc m-one recommended but wanted to ask what everybody else is thinking...

Cheap mixing of return channels
Hi, I just modded my mixer to give me 16 channels post fader which I grab with a fireface 802. As the channels are mixed in total mix the main out of the mixing desk isn't connected. Unfortunately that is where the returns are fed into (I am sure I could get those as well from the pcb but I just clo...

Re: Pedals or fx boxes you are into or wanna get?
I have got one. It is a great unit and the signalpath (gain, hipass, comp, drive, lowpass, gate) gives lots of possibilities. Sidechaining is good as well. Really like it but the circuits 2-4 are way too intdnse if driven hard.

Re: Very cheap hi pass filter for sidechain?
Yeah, I'd go with dubdub's suggestion here. You can find a (semi-)decent one for peanuts these days, good call. Building up a device around the 3320 seems like massive overkill for such a function, looks like it has built in resonance, voltage control etc, which you don't need here at all. Nice in ...

Re: Very cheap hi pass filter for sidechain?
Thanks for the answers. I was looking for a sweepable design that allows to dial in the cutoff frequency. Maybe I will try to use as3320 chips which are about 7 euro each and a copy of the filterchips inside sequential circuits synths. I didnt do any research yet so I don't know how complex the comp...

Re: Any users Elektron Analog 4? Very easy 4 out mod
I dont have issues with the screen but I suppose it is a standard part that can be changed more or less easy as well. Mine is a bit less contrasry in one edge but it is still readable. I think there is also a small pot on the pcb to the left of the screen to change the contrast. Just replaced the sc...

Re: Any users Elektron Analog 4? Very easy 4 out mod
4.jpg I don't take the credits as I just saw the thread and did the mod but I thought I share it as the unit is awesome with seperate outs. Capable of so many drum/percussion sounds that it is worth doing the mod. As mentioned above overbridge sucks and never stays in sync. Once taken with seperate...

Re: Any users Elektron Analog 4? Very easy 4 out mod
No, it is the dry signal that is taken off the pcb before the signals get mixed to go to the stereo out. The signal is strong and clean, You can in fact get stereo for each of the 4 synths which if you pan hard left and right could give you 8 seperate outs. I am fine with 4 outs. The signal is unbal...

Any users Elektron Analog 4? Very easy 4 out mod
Hi, Just in case anyone is interested. I just modded my analig 4 mk1 to have 4 seperate outs. The modification is very easy, costs about 20 euro and took 1 hour with drilling the cases being the hardest bit. There is a good thread on Elektronauts but I am happy to help as well. Never used it much re...

Very cheap hi pass filter for sidechain?
Hi, Could anyone recommend a very cheap hipass filter (maybe cheap Behringer pedal or so) as I want to split the signal I want to compress (Kick) and feed it with less bottom to the sidechain of my compressor. Unfortunately I cant spend too much money to buy a compressor with that built in already. ...

Re: Sonarworks Reference 4
I dont know if it has been mentioned. If anyone wants to go the rew route you can get an adau 1701 (same dsp as in minidsp as far as i know) for 17 Euro. Sigmastudio (the software from analogue devices that produce the dsp) is easy to use and allows REW data import as far as I know.

You can get a fader for 10 euro of ebay. There are certainly more flexible mixer and driving it hard sounds more nasty than smooth to me but it is quite flexible in terms what can be connected.

Re: Processing - which order?
Well, the secret is... that there's no secret - the "best order" really depends on your source and what you want to obtain as a result. But there are a couple tips that can help nonetheless - nothing new in . First off, EQ before comp will mainly make your compressor work harder on the frequencies ...

Processing - which order?
Hi, I am having a cheap behringer mdx 1000 compressor which apparently is a clone of a dbx 160, a drawmer ds301 (gate, midi controllable, peak function to put emphasis on transients), an oto boum (saturation distortion etc, including a compressor) and a cheap parametric eq. If I want to put those in...

Adapter Din to TRS
Hi, I want to buy Din to TRS adapters. Are the ones on the market allthe same and are they able to transfe rmidi data? On a trs jack there are just three connections (please correct me if I am wrong) whereas the din plug has 5 connections. I read midi just uses three of the five but are the adapters...

Re: Mackie overdrive
I recently grabbed a really good deal on a CR 1604 but noticed that the right master fader has a much lower output volume in comparison to the left one and it won't reach maximum level when cranked, does anyone have any idea what this could be? My guesses are probably that it's either dirt inside t...
